OK, so what's a, what's a full strike price? One sentence. So it's a when you see it. It's spot prices that are high enough to support a resource mix that's meeting the resource adequacy target for the system. OK. OK, let me try. Just think about Texas pre Yuri. That'll be fine. OK, would this be something like here's another acronym? ORDC. It's an approximation. It's an approximation. So basically if I'm you have a bunch of power plants bidding in at $30 a MW hour and the market is buying at $30 a MW hour. But actually your resource adequacy needs you need, you need is higher than that just that marginal cost or DC pushes the when, when conditions get tight, pushes the price up to procure generation at that time. So would ODC adding on top of whatever the marginal cost. Woodstock is be an example of something that approaches full strength pricing. Yeah, it's it, it can. That's one way of achieving it. So the idea is that, you know, if you, if you have power plant and you need $60.00 a MW hour to support your plant, then on average the prices in the market are going to be $60.00. And so that means some years you might average 20, some years you might average 100. On balance everything averages out to 60, but even if your cost to operate is 20. You you need to get the six right? Yeah, because you have an investment cost that's that's the that's amounts to 40. Do you guys understand this yet? I'm seeing some nods. It's when the demand curve sets the price. No caps, No caps. OK, we need a marketing person here, but we'll figure that out. And I'm gonna do Collins about to wave me off, but I'm I'm gonna do this because it's DeVos. We're holding happy hour. We're going to talk about energy wonky shift for three more minutes and not get beers because, you know, that's how early we are. But let's do one, one more question. Away in the back. We got a mic coming. This is not the marketing genius panel I know, but. Could you, I, I know we've talked about efficiency as the value of this full strength price, but I'm sitting here imagining myself as a consumer, residential consumer, but also potentially a business consumer and thinking full strength prices sound terrible. Can you all talk through the benefit? Like how would you pitch it to a consumer advocate group that the full strength prices are actually beneficial for, you know, the national or state economy in addition and to actual consumer welfare? Can I? Can I try? OK. So if you, what you often see in like capacity markets is if you're essentially procuring enough capacity to have reliability, it's regulators on the line and so they're they're gonna overbuy. So in most of the time in capacity markets you're probably over procuring meaning customer bills are higher during that period. The risk you run if you're you're focusing on efficiency of of market settling through full strength. Pricing most of the time you're gonna have lower costs, but what happens in that really, really gnarly thing that happens every 10 to 50 years are in in the whole grid goes down and you just like explode billions of dollars of the economy that your winter storm Yuri is a classic example of this where maybe that was hundreds of billions of dollars in damage to the state, but the whole decade prior they actually had cheaper costs than all the other states that had been over procuring. How how did I do? Is that yeah. And I, I think the other thing I would add to this is the mandatory contracting is important for this reason because I, I think that the, you know, average retail customers. Commercial residential, you're not going to want to have wholesale market exposure to that degree. And so there's, there's an important component of, of, of hedging and, and making sure that you have retailers or utilities load serving entities, somebody responsible for taking that risk on and, and not just leaving, you know, grandma exposed, OK, I found a place to end. If you get those full strength prices sent to consumers, they know what their DVR's are worth. And they can put a battery and solar in their home and get properly compensated for it and never lose power again. Alright, we're Mike dropping at Derby.

Episode 155 of the Reliability Matters Podcast is now available. Ultra HDI Panel Discussion (recorded live at SMTAI). As the demand for smaller, faster, and more powerful devices grows, the need for innovative solutions in circuit design has never been greater. UHDI's represent a significant leap forward, allowing for more connections in a smaller space, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in electronic assemblies. But what exactly are UHDI's? Essentially, they refer to circuit boards with incredibly fine pitch interconnects, enabling higher functionality and complexity in much smaller form factors. This breakthrough is transforming industries like consumer electronics, aerospace, automotive, and medical devices, where space, weight, and performance are critical factors. In this episode, we’ll explore the advantages UHDI's bring to the table, from increased design flexibility and performance to better thermal management. We'll also discuss how UHDI's are set to impact the assembly process. With tighter tolerances and more intricate layouts, UHDI assemblies will require new approaches to assembly, inspection, and reliability testing. To better explain UHDI technology, we’ve put together a panel of subject matter experts. Tara Dunn, Director of Training and Education at the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA), will moderate a panel discussion with other subject matter experts.
