3 big takeaways from hanging out with some friends at the Alabama Talent Development Conference put on by Birmingham ATD... Shoutout to Ryan Campbell, Eric W. Atkins, Jillian Miles Massey, Michael Glaze, and others for creating an impactful event! ?? We're better together - it's never easy to step away from your day-to-day work for an event like this but it's always worth it. We grow best with and from each other. The long-term payoffs you get from the network value of rooms filled with other equally passionate people far exceed the short-term progress on your to-do list. ?? You get out what you put in - just like at an ATM, you can't withdraw if you haven't made any deposits. Ask somebody who sits in the back of the room and checks emails frequently and they'd tell you... "I didn't really get a lot out of it". Ask somebody who sits toward the front, initiates conversations, and takes notes and they'll tell you... "I got so much out of it". ?? You're not alone - somewhere somebody else is experiencing challenges similar to yours. It's easy to feel isolated and alone when all you see are the 4 walls or virtual walls of your organization. Take a step outside and you'll find there are others working as diligently to overcome those challenges as you are. You never know, they may have the answer to the exact problem you're trying to solve.

Recruiting teams in 2024(and beyond) still have a lot of uncertainties ahead of them. But one of the clear trends that will 100% persist in the foreseeable future is that teams will remain relatively lean, and therefore need to identify cost effective ways to quickly flex up and down their recruiting capacity while not compromising quality.
