Meet Dr. Alec Sheaffer, Occupational Therapist at U.S. Navy Hospital Educational Developmental Intervention Services in Okinawa, Japan AGILITY: Dr. Sheaffer joined the Educational Developmental Intervention Services team a year ago as an early intervention and school-based occupational therapist providing services in homes and schools across Okinawa that help children reach developmental milestones and participate in play, self-care, socialization, school, and feeding. Dr. Sheaffer works extremely hard and brings compassion, knowledge, and understanding to children, families, and her interdisciplinary team. She takes on any task she is presented with while managing a caseload of both school-age and early intervention patients. She manages department trainings, leads continuing education courses, and engages in community outreach programs. She is currently conducting peer-reviewed research on inclusivity and presenting at international conferences.
