Amir Carlisle always tells us to find our "and." This past summer I was able to do so and learn so much about myself and life after school/football. An unexpected opportunity came to not only work for a startup, but to also work alongside my brother who built his company while playing football at ND. What began as just a simple internship helping out where I could and trying to learn as much as possible about starting a business, quickly turned into us pivoting and me completely leading our marketing and outreach. We went from little to no responses at the beginning of the summer, to now 10 weeks later having reached out to 800 people individually with a response rate of 17%, over double the average rate for cold outreach of 8%. This hasn't been without its ups and downs. We are constantly coming up with new ideas and finding ways to improve our work to keep the company growing, but with the help of Amir and others, DealCompass has become my "and." I am super excited to continue working with Matt Salerno on DealCompass as I finish up my last year at Notre Dame! Thank you to Tom Mendoza as well and all the great support of player development!
