Would you want your son or daughter to become a police officer? As someone who’s been in law enforcement for nearly two decades, I’ve experienced firsthand the highs and lows of this career. It’s incredibly rewarding to serve and protect the community, but it’s also not without its challenges. As I reflect on the path I’ve taken, I’m curious—would you encourage your son or daughter to pursue a career in policing? What advice would you give them? I’d love to hear different perspectives, especially from those who have been in the field or have family members who serve. Let’s start a conversation! Drop a Yes or No below and share your thoughts. #LawEnforcement #CareerChoices #CommunityService #Leadership #Parenting #PublicSafety

PR & DEI Specialist | Amplify Brand Stories & Secure Media Coverage for Businesses & Thought Leaders
Does anti-DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) feel very CRTish? DEI has been used to disparage the issue of diversity. I know a lot of people don’t want to see it that way but why have?some accused Brandon Scott of being a DEI mayor? This has nothing to do with DEI because he was elected. He is an amazing young Black man who raced to the bridge to see what happened but got criticized for doing so. Lives were lost and it is sad to see this tragedy get politicalized. Despite the unfortunate attempts by some to conflate DEI efforts with Critical Race Theory (CRT) to undermine their importance, it's essential to remember that DEI aims to cultivate an environment of understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunity for everyone. Amber Cabral discusses this “reclamation is a form of accountability” on the Karen Hunter Show as Black Twitter tries to take back the word DEI. This is why her TED Talk on Human-ing Well is an important reminder how her conversation echoes the broader discussion on how society can evolve to empower every individual, regardless of their story, echoing the collective aspiration for a world shaped by inclusivity and equal chances for success. 12 out of 500. That's how many middle-aged, normal policemen stepped forward when given the opportunity to not participate in a mission to eliminate 1,800 citizens. A staggering 488 committed themselves to fulfill the order. Years later, around 150 of these policemen were interviewed by social scientists. When some of the 488 were asked why they continued with the mission, two primary themes emerged: fear of being considered a coward by their peers fear of negative impacts on their careers. In a similar situation, what would you do? What do you hope you would do? What does your personal history indicate you would do? These are difficult questions, but ones that are worth asking ourselves.

Recruiting the Next Generation of Police Officers Recruiting qualified police officers in 2024 continues to be one of the most significant challenges facing law enforcement agencies across the country. As departments work to rebuild trust, prioritize diversity, and adapt to the evolving expectations of the communities we serve, the task of finding dedicated candidates has become increasingly complex. We’ve tried to think creatively—whether it’s enhanced outreach programs, updated hiring incentives, or expanding the use of social media—but it still feels like a steep climb. Licensed Private Investigator in Mexico | Certified CAMS, CFCS, ASIS | Specializing in Financial Crimes, Fraud, Corporate and Public Security
?? Policing has undergone significant transformations throughout U.S. history. From the Political Era to the Reform and Community Problem-Solving Eras, strategies have evolved in response to societal needs. Understanding this evolution is vital for today’s criminal justice professionals. As we look to the future, it's crucial to remember our roots and learn from the past. Policing that encompasses not only law enforcement but also social services, community partnership, and progressive reform can pave the way for more equitable and effective practices. I am keen to connect with fellow professionals in the criminal justice field who are passionate about shaping a future where policing aligns with community collaboration and societal justice. I wish every officer in the country had the opportunity to experience the love that was shown to us today by the students and staff at Westbrook Christian School. Oftentimes I speak with potential recruits who want to join our department, and I ask them why here, why Rainbow City. I always get two answers: 1. Because of the people that work here. 2. Because of the support from the community and administration/elected officials. Working in a community that supports law enforcement not only makes it enjoyable to come to work, but it also helps us attract great people. We have seen what an absence of support looks like from big cities across the country and people are leaving those places in droves. Crime skyrockets and the overall sense of security disappears. To our community, I cannot promise that we will always be perfect because we are human, but I can promise that we will always be seeking ways to serve you with services that go above and beyond. Exceptional service by building exceptional officers. #LawEnforcementAppreciation
