DBI is pleased to announce its involvement in the Raza Development Fund's (RDF) Green Energy Funds for Schools project! The opportunity is made possible by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its 2024 Renew America’s Schools program grant, a competitive award to support energy improvements in K-12 schools across the country. This funding and partnership will help participating schools lower energy costs and emissions through facility improvements, ultimately making our schools cleaner, safer, healthier, and more supportive learning environments for our kids and teachers. RDF partnered with DBI to qualify the participating schools’ current energy performance metrics, and will continue its partnership by performing energy audits and developing scope for energy-saving improvements to modernize school facilities. DBI will stay onboard through the implementation process, overseeing renovations and capital improvements. With $3B in active education projects under management, DBI is the foremost leader in academic real estate and continues to excel at guiding mission-driven organizations through new regulatory challenges and opportunities. We are grateful for this partnership with RDF and look forward to working with them in implementing this ambitious, energy-efficient vision. What’s happening at the Pennsylvania Broadband Authority? Here are a few exciting updates! The Bead Challenge Process Initiative wrapped up on July 22nd with lots of participation across Pennsylvania. This initiative identified eligible broadband serviceable locations (BSLs) for digitally underserved communities. The PBDA approved volume ll of the BEAD initial proposal which lays the groundwork for fund allocation, sub-grantee selection, and the implementation of various programs. The Digital Equity Capacity Grant has been applied for and is awaiting approval. This grant will implement PA’s statewide digital equity plan. Additionally, $1.25 billion will ensure that the communities have digital access. The PBDA has announced that over $204 million will be contributed to the Capital Projects Fund. A few of those programs under the CPF include: Broadband Infrastructure Program Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program Digital Connectivity Program The PBDA is making strides toward creating a more connected and digitally inclusive Pennsylvania. Yesterday 33 participants in the project graduated with a NQF-7 qualification in Public Administration from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) School of Government. At DBSA, partnerships are a core pillar to investment and have been enabling the business to tap into development finance to fuel tangible results on the ground. There is no doubt that Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) are pivotal in driving improvement on economic, environmental and social levels. When the United Nations formulated a framework for the Sustainable Development Agenda they came up with 17 goals and in order for each of these goals to be achieved it was clear that a partnership between public and private sectors was fundamental in each case.? One such PPP within the DBSA network is the recent commitment of €70 million towards Senegal's Virtual University project, aimed at expanding access to higher education and fostering economic growth. This initiative, part of Senegal's broader development plan, will establish 45 digital learning centres (ENOs), enabling 45 000 students annually to access quality education through blended learning approaches.
