Not growing on social media, despite your continuous efforts and postings? Here’s a counter-intuitive suggestion - go offline. What do you mean offline? We know that social media can be quite unpredictable, like a fickle fairy. You can never anticipate what piece of content will blow up, as if touched by fairy dust. Just take a look at the mega-viral TikTok with those chocolate-covered strawberries! But you know what is more predictable? Connections forged in real life! Take my example- on my personal social media, I’m trying to grow as an electronic music producer/DJ and vocalist and enchant viewers with my sonic sorcery. But so far, my online incantations have failed to summon a substantial following. Granted, I'm still not casting my spells as consistently as I should be (not nearly). A few days ago, I decided to change my approach and focus more on offline networking, events, sessions and raves. Time to teleport into the physical realm to weave my magic! I'm collecting names and socials of EVERY kindred spirit I encounter during these events, like filling the pages of my own book of spells. I add each entry to my WhatsApp community. I’m still in the very early stages of this, but I am collecting all of these contacts into a coven group and staying active there so that they don't forget our mystical bond. We are already a group of 70 members strong! This is not only good for me, but for each member of the group as well! DJs in the group will naturally also get supported by other group members, as there is a continuous exchange of interests, music and events between everyone. It's truly a WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN on all ends!! QUESTION for you: If you want to use (or are already using) this strategy, what is/would be the main focus of your community group? ?? & ? LinkedIn is different from every other social media platform, here's why.?? Just as no two human beings are the same no two social media platforms are the same. Although scheduling social media posts can save time, it may not always be worth it when it comes to Instagram or Facebook reels due to potential problems that may arise. These factors should be considered before deciding whether to schedule your social media posts: 1. One problem is that once you schedule a reel, you may not be able to change the cover photo, which could make your feed look disorganized and unappealing. 2. Another problem is that the algorithm seems to favor manually published posts over scheduled ones, although no one knows why. LinkedIn is a social media network that connects industry professionals. If your niche is music- maybe you're connected to friends at record labels and talent agencies. If you're in goverment than maybe you're connected to people at United Nations. But what if you're a celebirty. Well then you have a mass number of followers from every industry. The goal is to have valuable high reputable authentic connections. Now since this is about the industry and you hear what the 2000 employees at Universal Music is speaking about- and the 2500 at Sony Music. What happens when you search? How many people are really talking about Justin Bieber? Is he the most famous kid on the planet? Does he deserve all the hype he's getting? Well I'll always take up for Justin. So he's good no matter what. But the honest truth is the algorithm for professional contacts in his industry isn't really just exploding with posts about Justin. Well from any niche when I do a universal search. So let's say Justin had 100 posts in one month. (Yeah the numbers are that low) And well I made a post that got thousands of impressions. Which correlated to me getting messages from these viewers. Well wouldn't my 1000 impressions (because I'm actively posting and Justin doesn't have an account) beat Justin's measly industry standard hype. Well it did. When I think Justin Bieber I think "oh yep everyone's talking about him" but are they in the entertainment and music industry? Not like you would think. If I actively post 6-7 times in two days- and play with my LinkedIn a couple days- my analytics for my Disney show will beat Justin Bieber in the professional network world. Now I remind you- releasing any show on TV is very much appealing and interesting to viewers and often will result in them wanting your energy and wanting to be apart of it. So yes a TV show is big to announce throughout the account. But I'm beating Justin Bieber? I'm not even a house hold name. (No bad talk on my name) But I've built a household name in the eyes of the industry. Because my followers that work in the professional business are all elite people and are interested with what I'm doing. Even presidents, and CEOs, of major companies. Now how many is a lot of followers on LinkedIn? I would say 25,000 followers. I have roughly 18,000. What does this mean for Justin? Are people just relaxing and waiting for him to do something that they as an industry employee see notable or worth discussion? Or is being famous - being as famous as you can make yourself. My show I’m developing has turned heads and is turning heads to a lot of big high up people (and I’m forever grateful for our connection- thank you) and does it make sense that Justin could be a competition in keeping those numbers going? I’ve played this game before with Justin. I tell you a little secret. To side with Justin- everyone needs promoters. Even the famous famous. So when they tour they hire. (Part 2 on a new post)
