When McKinsey & Company and The Business of Fashion teamed up again for The 2025 State of Fashion Report, they found that as the mindset around #AI in retail is evolving, and product data is increasingly playing a pivotal role. Where previously there was an operational focus on optimizing business decisions with AI, in 2025, it will be all about experimentation by expanding use cases and new features. Specifically, when it comes to generative AI, fashion executives see consumer #productdiscovery as the top use case with the most potential! So what's next? McKinsey recommends: - Establishing a technology backbone (including tech stack and infrastructure) that provides flexibility to adopt and scale search and discovery use cases. - Identifying relevant tech partners and infrastructure for AI deployment whilst ensuring product content is optimized for AI search. - Ensuring product data is optimized for AI search, identifying relevant product features and attributes for both organic search and content-led discovery.
