Ready.gov has some generic information on developing an Emergency Response Plan… or what we call an EAP in the All Risk Responder sphere; https://lnkd.in/gcyMwpru The actions taken in the initial minutes of an emergency are critical. Prompt action and warnings can save lives, minimize physical damage to structures and property, and allow for better resilience. Every business should develop and implement an emergency plan for protecting employees, contractors and visitors. 10 Steps for Developing the Emergency Response Plan 1.??????Review performance objectives for the program. 2.??????Review hazard or threat scenarios identified during the risk assessment. 3.??????Assess the availability and capabilities of resources for incident stabilization including people, systems and equipment available within your business and from external sources. 4.??????Talk with public emergency services (e.g., fire, police and emergency medical services) to determine their response time to your facility, knowledge of your facility and its hazards and their capabilities to stabilize an emergency at your facility. 5.??????Determine if there are any regulations pertaining to emergency planning at your facility; address applicable regulations in the plan. 6.??????Develop protective actions for life safety (evacuation, shelter, shelter-in-place, lockdown). 7.??????Develop hazard and threat-specific emergency procedures using the Emergency Response Plan for Businesses. 8.??????Coordinate emergency planning with public emergency services to stabilize incidents involving the hazards at your facility. 9.??????Train personnel so they can fulfill their roles and responsibilities. 10.??Facilitate exercises to practice your plan. so far my kitties and i are safe from the fires. we are near an evacuation zone but outside it. i've got my bags packed and ready to go in case its time to go and i'm paying close attention to the news and latest status. please be kind to your friends and coworkers in the LA area right now. it's a catastrophe. things are changing very fast some of the time. the fires can go from tiny to huge in just a few minutes thanks to the intense winds. right now everyone in the area is likely pretty stressed and worried and trying to figure out how best to be prepared and what to do. it make take a while for the fires to get under control, and then after that it will be a huge recovery effort. thank you to everyone who has messaged me asking if we're ok. it means a lot in a scary situation <3 also, take this as an opportunity to review your own emergency preparedness. there's great information in many places, such as https://www.ready.gov/ on how to plan for emergencies, put together an emergency kit, what to do, etc. it's a lot easier to do it ahead of time when things are calm. and you never know when your house might have an electrical fire or a family member has a medical emergency or some other issue comes up. it's not that hard to prepare and you won't regret it.
