Walt Disney Was Right; Our Cities’ Problems Are Our Biggest Problems ? The Disney name caught my attention. But it seemed to mention Disney just to hook people like me in without a closing with a strong Disney-connection. Honestly, I feel like the whole article needs that hook, that concluding thought. It feels more like the start of a thesis than an article. ? It’s a long read, but it has some interesting points. ? https://lnkd.in/e3VVKuvP #letsmakeplans #themedenterainment #themeparks #cities #infastructure #disney #urbanplanning
It's sort of is a start of a thesis. It was enough of a nightmare trying to cut it down into something somewhat manageable

6 个月As someone who lives in NYC and is dealing with its many many flaws in how its currently run and manage I do get this article. We are at a place where capitalism is way more important than quality of life. And it's making it not worth to live in cities just at a time when we are having a massive influx of people into them. I know disneys ideas on cities well. They were a little to utopian. He wanted very, very strict control over everything. There was to be no origionality or organic growth, it was very strictly planned and very strictly managed. While, it works for the illusion of an amusement park, not the greatest for living in. Check out this video. A good explainer on how theme parks create an illusion and how cities are implementing these. And I agree, they are, and it's not making our city lives better. https://youtu.be/BWEiiRIiCoo?si=x4U2UqwtjfApZceo
