‘Zanele’s Sermon’ kicking off day 2 at #marketingcafe another power start to the conference. Wow.
My key takeouts to her theme of Crafting tomorrows marketers:
- Sbindi Bulala, Sbindi Philisa ~ Dream with ambition and lead with conviction as a marketer (this is going up in the office thanks Zanele Hadebe ????)
- You have to have a love for that “ka ching” marketers are accountable beyond just conceptual thinking and ideas. You share the sales teams accountability for sales and you have to develop a passion for achieving it!
- If you can’t pitch the sales team you can’t win. You have to love sales and be able to sell your concepts.
- Retention isn’t about just keeping customers the real measure is growing their spend and getting referrals.
- Influence the ‘shela’ way.
- Test, tweak, release, repeat (forever) marketing is iterative.
- “Marketers add a voice to the numbers”
- Marketers have to learn to push back and say no. Know your value. Back your ideas (there’s a theme here through the conference)
- Agencies must stick to their strengths and double down on them. Don’t try own every piece of the pie.
Zanele this was brilliant, I love your accountability and ownership for revenue as a marketer. Taking ideas to the bottom line resonated deeply.
