How well do you interview? Improvements can always be made, no matter how good you think you are. If you recognise how you come across every time you interact with someone, you'll realise your good and bad attributes. When this happens, you can start working on improving what you can do next time. As a recruiter, I constantly have to develop and switch up how I conduct interviews to ensure that the conversation flows well and that we value each other's time. I'm very open to constructive criticism as it helps me to be a better recruiter and human being. When interviewing others, I give them the opportunity to ask questions about anything. Such as: - Interview Tips - Resume/CV Review and Tips - LinkedIn Profile Review/Tips - My perspective of the market - Advice on how to get the best jobs. Recruiters can be invaluable and give you insights you never thought possible. Next time you speak to a recruiter, take advantage of it; perhaps you'll learn something new you can apply in your following call/interview. What's the most significant value you've received from speaking with a recruiter?

Interview are challenging and so are the follow up after the interview. Many ask, how soon should they send a follow up email to hiring managers? The days where you used to keep "Thank You Notes" handy and sign one after the end of your in-person interviews, are long gone. Now a day's majority of interviews are online. So how do you approach this? 1. Ask your headhunter what the hiring manager's preference is? 2. Follow the instructions of your headhunter they will forward it. 3. If you don't have a headhunter and you are directly in contact with the hiring manager, write the thank you note in advance then tweak it within the next 30 minutes of your interview. Send a quick thank you email. 4. Here are some pointers as to a follow-up letter: “If they don’t contact you by the date stated, follow up the next day,” said career coach?Kristine Knutter. “Keep it positive and don’t mention they didn’t contact you. Simply reiterate your enthusiasm for the job and ask for any updates regarding the hiring process for the job.” If your hiring manager promised an answer in two weeks and it’s been a month of radio silence, you can always say something like, “Some other processes are progressing quicker than expected, but ‘Company’ is still my top choice, so I wanted to check on your timeline,” Dilber said. “If you try the recruiter twice and don’t hear back, you can always email the hiring manager and check with them,” Dilber said. “This also alerts them to any potential issues if a recruiter isn’t keeping up with communication, or sometimes a recruiter has left, and their candidates get lost in the mix.” #interviewchallenges #followups #thankyouemails #hireingmanager #recruiter https://lnkd.in/gF23VZ_a

If a video interview, make sure your technology works before the scheduled time to start. ?? Never disparage your current or a former employer. ?? Know your audience and research the firm/company/agency and the interviewers. ?? Do a practice or mock interview with a coach or a friend before the interview. ?? Identify what you want to get across to the interviewer and identify your selling points for why you are a good fit for the position. ?? Prepare well thought-out questions to ask. ?? ??How do you Prepare for a Job Interview? Would you believe that (in my personal experience only) about 90% of candidates going into interviews with little or no preparation. It's insane. As if career success is so easy to achieve it can simply be stumbled upon. Or perhaps it's ego. Perhaps people really do think that highly of themselves that their mere presence will garner a six figure job offer. Well, if you are neither insane nor an ego maniac... here are 8 simple tips that will help you migrate from the ranks of the unprepared and into the ranks of the successful. ?? Read the Job Description. Read every word of the job description as if it were life saving instructions for a dying loved one. The employer is giving you the answers to the test. He is telling you what he is looking for! ? Consider Your Why. If the only reason you can articulate that you are applying for a particular job is that you want a paycheck, it isn't going to take long for you to be disqualified. You need to be able to tell the employer why you want to work specifically for THEM! ?? Research the Company and the Role. Is the company a fit for you? Are you a fit for the company? Do the mission and values of the company align with your WHY and your PURPOSE? If nothing else, showing that you did some research communicates effort on your part. ??♂?Be Prepared to Answer Common Question. Google "common interview questions" and make a list for yourself. Then write out your answers. If you are trying to formulate your answer during the interview, you have missed an opportunity to excel. ?? Do A Mock Interview. Find someone slightly smarter than you who will also give you honest feedback. Hand them your list of questions, run through them and ask for critique. Digital resources exist as well. Video the whole thing and critique yourself. This is painfully simple. ?? Rehearse. This demands no explaination. Rehearse. The answers to "tell me about yourself" or "tell me about your leadership style" should be jumping off your tongue like the lyrics of your favorite song. ?? Sell Yourself. Confidently and competantly communicate to the employer why YOU and specifically YOU are the right choice for the job. You must stand out! There are other people interviewing for the same role you know! Be prepared to answer, "Why should I hire you?" ?? Follow Up. Drop a handwritten or digital note of appreciation within 24 hours. Consider following up by phone or e-mail in 7-10 business days to see if a decision has been made, assuming you haven't heard anything. Be professional, but persistant. You Got This. There’s a lot of advice out there on what to do before and during an interview, but few people ever talk about what happens after the interview. While you’re still fresh on the hiring team’s mind, it might be the best time to follow up with the hiring manager or recruiter. To avoid bothering the interviewer or appearing as a nuisance, you can ask for an approximate timeframe for hearing back and determine the appropriate person to contact if you don’t receive an update or have any changes in your status (such as another job offer or rescinding interest). Once this information is confirmed, the following best practices below will guide you on how to appropriately follow up with them.
