It’s Election Day, and my take? Polls are missing the mark. Traditional polling methods don’t capture everything that matters—enthusiasm, intent, or the voices of younger and harder-to-reach voters who don’t respond to calls or texts. With voter turnout surging and real-time events shaping perspectives, I’m predicting a blue win, contrary to the ‘tight’ polling projections. While the US election is heating up, there is one more unexpected factor: Gen Z’s potent social media influence. Harris’s campaign story is now interwoven with the threads of digital pop culture. But what truly influences this digital-native generation? Glimpse surveyed 199 GenZers and uncovered surprising findings including: The Power of Social Media: Our survey revealed that #SocialMedia is the leading source of election information for GenZers, with 43% primarily using TikTok and 29% relying on Instagram. Personality vs. Policy: our AI Analytics feature shows that 73% of GenZ voters are influenced by a candidate’s character, often prioritizing personal traits and online presence over policy. Very excited to share learnings on the US elections, combining Signal AI’s media intelligence with Focaldata’s survey data. In it we compare media coverage vs voter sentiment, showing some marked differences: - Harris consistently outperforms Trump in media sentiment in every swing state, but Trump leads in voter polls in three swing states. - Perhaps because she’s the lesser-known candidate, Harris is seen as a more polarizing figure across all states. - Jobs and the economy emerge as the most polarized issue, while national security and race relations are, at least through the lens of the election, less fraught. https://lnkd.in/ghG5n7bd
