Throughout the month of March, tune in as we spotlight our incredible associates and proudly celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth through stories from our teammates. In our first feature, let's hear from Destiny what Women's History Month means to her: As a Black woman, women’s history represents a profound legacy of resilience, progress, and ongoing challenges. It is a testament to the countless women who have fought against systemic barriers to create opportunities for future generations. Women of color have navigated the dual struggles of racism and sexism, striving for recognition and equality, while white women have played a significant role in advancing women’s rights though historically, these movements have not always been inclusive to women of color experiences. Honoring women’s history requires acknowledging the contributions of trailblazing figures such as Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells, Angela Davis and Shirley Chisholm, who championed freedom, justice, and political representation. Simultaneously, it is important to recognize the efforts of women like Jeannette Rankin, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Gloria Steinem, who were instrumental in the suffrage and feminist movements. However, history also reveals the need for a more inclusive approach that fully embraces the diverse voices and experiences of all women. Women’s history serves as both a reflection and a call to action. True progress is achieved when all women acknowledge past divisions and work collectively toward a more equitable future. Advancing gender equity must include a commitment to intersectionality, ensuring that race, class, and other social factors are considered in the fight for women’s rights. Ultimately, women’s history is about learning from the past, celebrating the achievements of all women, and fostering a future in which every woman regardless of race or background is empowered, heard, and valued.
