As per this article, seems the wind - assisted propulsion systems ( WAPS) is gaining traction among the various decarbonization drives in the maritime industry. Some useful data provided in the article suggests around 29 wind tech installations have been completed between 2018 - 2023 and around 72 are there in the orderbooks. The important point to note from the article is that only 16 shipyards till date have completed such retrofits and hence there is a need for wider base of shipyards around the world to take up such retrofits to meet the demand.
