Lifecycle of a Carbon Offset Project: The Alto Mayo Conservation Initiative ?? From initiation to the issuance of carbon credits, follow the journey of the Alto Mayo Conservation Initiative in Peru. This project has protected over 182,000 hectares of rainforest and promoted sustainable practices, issuing millions of carbon credits. Timeline Highlights: January 2008: Project initiation to protect the Alto Mayo Protected Forest. March 2010: Validation by Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS). April 2010 - December 2012: Implementation of sustainable agriculture training and economic incentives. January 2013 - December 2018: Continuous monitoring and performance tracking.
