Military service can expose individuals to unique traumas, increasing the risk of PTSD. ?? From combat to training accidents and military sexual trauma, these experiences leave a lasting impact, especially among Veterans—where 7 out of every 100 will experience PTSD, a rate slightly higher than in civilians. Female Veterans are particularly vulnerable. If you have expertise in Veteran PTSD, we invite you to apply to become a course contributor. Help us raise awareness and improve care for those who served. Join our mission at Inclusive Healers. As a nation, we honor our veterans for their bravery and sacrifice. Yet, for some who have returned from combat with deep, invisible wounds like PTSD, the story takes a tragic turn. Many of these veterans, once hailed as heroes, now find themselves on death row, condemned for crimes committed under the weight of their service-related trauma. Over 300 veterans are currently on death row, and many others have already been executed. Despite their service and the profound impact of PTSD, the justice system often fails to fully consider these factors during their trials. Defense attorneys may overlook critical evidence, and prosecutors and judges often dismiss the mental scars left by war. This isn't just a call for justice—it's a call for compassion and understanding. We must ask ourselves: How can we honor those who served while also holding them accountable in a way that acknowledges the heavy burden they carry? The intersection of mental health, military service, and capital punishment demands our urgent attention. It's time to scrutinize the use of the death penalty, especially for those who have sacrificed so much for their country. #AKInvestigations #Veterans #DeathPenalty #PTSD #CriminalJusticeReform #MentalHealthAwareness #JusticeForVeterans #CapitalPunishment #HumanRights

Recent findings from the King's Centre for Military Health Research, commissioned by the Office for Veterans' Affairs, show that the rate of probable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among veterans has risen to 1 in 10. Among veterans deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in combat roles, the rate jumps even higher to almost one in five (18%) of which three-quarters (13.9%) meet the criteria for C-PTSD. In comparison, the rate of PTSD among the general public is 4%. This important study highlights the ongoing mental health challenges faced by those who have served our country. It underscores the need for continued support and resources for our veteran community. As an organisation dedicated to supporting veterans and their assistance dogs, we recognise the vital role these canine companions can play in helping those struggling with PTSD. We remain committed to providing assistance and raising awareness about the mental health needs of our veterans. If you or a veteran you know is struggling, please don't hesitate to reach out for support. #VeteransMentalHealth #PTSD #SupportOurVeterans #AssistanceDogs

Did you know that veterans are much more likely to suffer from PTSD than people who haven't served in the military? While about 7 to 8 out of every 100 people may experience PTSD, veterans are four times as likely to have it. If you're struggling with PTSD because of your experiences in combat, you're not alone. There are VA programs that can help you get healthcare, compensation, and treatment. To prove your PTSD, you'll need to show: ? You were diagnosed with PTSD because of things that happened during your service. ? Those things happened while you were in combat. ? They happened while you were a Prisoner of War. ? Or you faced fears of attacks as a drone crew member. If you served in combat, just your own statement on a form called VA Form 21-0781 is usually enough to prove what happened. Want to understand more and get help with your PTSD claim? Book a consultation through my Calendly link: https://buff.ly/4aYjMnH You're not alone, and there's support out there for you. ?? #PTSD #mentalhealth #military
