In April and May 2024, Puerto Rico faced severe storms that led to significant flooding, landslides, and mudslides across the island. These natural disasters caused widespread displacement of residents, extensive damage to infrastructure, and numerous power outages. The intense weather overwhelmed local resources, prompting the need for immediate federal assistance to aid in recovery efforts. In response, a major disaster declaration enabled the release of federal funds and resources to support the affected areas. FEMA and other agencies quickly mobilized to provide immediate relief, focusing on restoring essential services, clearing debris, and repairing damaged infrastructure. Recovery efforts have prioritized temporary housing, financial aid, and rebuilding resilient infrastructure to better withstand future disasters #PuertoRicoStorms #DisasterRelief #FloodRecovery #LandslideRelief #StormRecovery #CommunitySupport #FEMAResponse #NaturalDisaster #RecoveryEfforts #PuertoRicoFlooding #StormImpact #ERS #EmpoweredRecoverySolutions #EmpathyInMotion ersolutionsco.com https://lnkd.in/eiPN_rwU Michael G.

In times of crisis, essential public assets serve as the backbone of our communities, ensuring continuity and essential services. These assets include roads, bridges, public housing, flood levees, and stormwater infrastructure, provided to the community either free of charge or at a subsidised rate. Key components of these assets, such as roads, culverts, drainage structures, and floodways, are crucial for transportation resilience. Under the NSW Disaster Assistance Arrangements and the DRFA, essential public assets cover infrastructure like footpaths, bike lanes, pedestrian bridges, tunnels, and culverts. Understanding and safeguarding essential public assets is vital for building resilient communities. We support councils across Australia via the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) to PREPARE for, RESPOND to, and RECOVER from natural disasters. #resilientcommunities #nsw #localgovernment
