Haul roads in both the mining and forestry industries face similar challenges—heavy traffic, substantial loads, and a reliance on unpaved roads. Given these parallels, it’s clear that DUST/BLOKR, our environmental solution for dust control, can be just as effective in forestry as it is in mining. In our recent article, we explore the negative impact of road dust on both industries and how DUST/BLOKR can not only address this issue but also deliver significant savings and operational benefits. From improving OpEx and reducing cycle times to offering environmental advantages, this solution is designed to enhance efficiency across your operations. ?? NZU Holdings Update: 31 March 2024 to 30 June 2024 //cross-posted from Substack// The latest tally for NZ ETS units (NZUs) held in private accounts has been posted on the EPA website. The 30 June 2024 tally is a crucial one to watch as it follows the annual surrender deadline for gross GHG emitters on 31 May. Comparing the 31 March tally to 30 June 2024, there was a 24.5 million drop in NZU holdings (now at 144.5 million NZUs). A substantive drop was always on the cards with only one auction cleared in the past 12 months (3 million units, relative to recent annual demand of ~30-35 million). As part of this decrease, forestry NZUs held in foresters’ accounts dropped 6 million, and forestry units held by other participants dropped by 2.4 million. This reinforces the picture that the glut of units earned by foresters at the end of the 2018-2022 Mandatory Emissions Return period (MERP) has contributed to abundant short-term supply. Total holdings are now back to levels last seen in mid-2021, but there remains a fair ways to go before the NZ ETS resolves its surplus gut. https://lnkd.in/gEgQD4rS

???? Forestry investment has never been more relevant! The world is set to change significantly over the next few decades. Urbanisation and economic decarbonisation are forecast to be among the key mega-trends between now and 2050. In a detailed report, our friends and Corporate Partner, Gresham House, the 7th largest forestry asset manager globally, looks at the long-term drivers behind increasing global timber consumption and forestry asset values in the context of constrained supply. The Gresham House Global Timber Outlook report: ? Analyses the global uses of timber and future developments ? Highlights the key drivers underpinning demand for timber: Urbanisation, Decarbonisation and housing shortages ? Provides forecasts for timber consumption to 2050 Moreover, as the vast majority of countries have set significant targets to reduce carbon emissions towards net zero by 2050, timber will play a critical part in this transformation. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eU-fWYSF Gresham House is a specialist alternative asset manager focused on sustainability. One of the most progressive issues with #science is that it encourages questioning, investigation, and repetition. When the #concensus is reached on a topic it doesn't mean it is done and dusted never to be visited again. If new evidence repeatedly rears its head, it should demand attention. However, concensus firmly places exceptions as #outliers and not the expected norm. This story illustrates how science can be used to push #unethical stances driven by everything other than the concensus of science and evidence. The #forestry industry needs truth and integrity serum in large, large volumes (a generalisation, yes, but applicable to the forestry sector across Australia). #carboncredits #nativeforests #biodiversityloss #fire https://lnkd.in/gwAM9pxz

Much like haul roads in the mining industry, logging roads play a crucial role in any forestry operation. When we examine the requirements for a well-managed log road network, we know that: 1) These logging roads provide access to remote areas where timber resources are often located, allowing equipment, machinery, and personnel to access the harvest sites and felled trees to be transported back. 2) A well-planned road network considers the environmental impact of the overall forestry operation. The roads will be planned and developed around sensitive ecosystems, wildlife habitats, thinning and planting activities, soil erosion and level of disturbance. For these reasons, the network might be more intricate, covering more ground than simply connecting from point A to B. 3) These roads must be able to handle heavy loads. On average, a fully loaded logging truck can weigh anywhere between 50,000 to 80,000 lbs (22,680 to 36,287 kg)! 4) Logging roads are often constructed using various materials depending on local terrain, soil conditions, and traffic volume. These materials can include gravel, crushed rock, and aggregate all of which are not immune to degradation. We know haul roads. Our solutions have been put through the test on some of the hardest-working haul roads out there. We are confident that DUST/BLOKR and ROAD//STABILIZR will help revolutionize your forestry operation too. Reach out to the team to learn more. ?? https://lnkd.in/d6qmQEfi

Following a two-year exploration of renewable energy solutions, Crown Research Institute Scion has released a statement highlighting the potential of short-rotation forestry (SRF) to significantly reduce New Zealand’s current reliance on fossil fuels – in particular, coal. SRF involves cultivating fast-growing tree species that can be harvested within a relatively short period, typically three to fifteen years, to produce substantial amounts of biomass quickly for the emerging bioenergy market. For the full article, click here: https://lnkd.in/g-WgeDGM If you are interested in exploring SRF further please get in touch with our specialist forestry team. We can assist in preparing joint venture forestry agreements and forestry rights or leases for SRF. #andersonlloyd #forestry #RenewableEnergy

Batch, continuous or mobile Debarking is Industrial Equipment Manufacturing Ltd. Low boil means low wear, less wood loss and more bark removed. Frozen or pleasant we get the job done. Why Batch? Batch allows you to tailor each load to conditions both weather and quality of wood. Because the wood is charged, debarked and unloaded, the timing can make it seem continuous because your flaker, chipper or Economizer always has logs. The beauty is every 90 seconds to 2 minutes another 500 cu.ft. of clean as a whistle wood is ready to be processed into pellets, pulp chips or OSB. Continuous has similar flexibility to dial in 1/2% bark and low woodloss 1-2%, achieved. It does take alarger footprint and larger tonnage 150 to 1,000 TPH. Continuous requires continuous feed and process capacity after the debarker. Batch can be more compact and fit into OSB pond systems nicely. Removing the bark before the hot ponds means 10% better thermal dynamics. +90% less grit in the ponds. Anywhere a ring debarker is a Deal could be. Batch has all the Deal built in of a continuous, live bottom, interlocking interface of the rolls, low HP, low maintenance requirements and ease of maintenence planned in like a company doing it for almost 40 years. Yes they did. Batch has been installed in 250 TPH applications and higher. Typically, 50 to 200 TPH is the most common. Want to get more information on the "Deal" give me a call 866-476-9861 and I'll bring my 28 years of woodroom experience to your team. #Forestry #Pulpandpaper #fuelpellets #Sawmill #OSBindustry American Forest & Paper Association Biomass Magazine U.S. Industrial Pellet Association
