Providing data, evidence and insight to our Members about all things youth employment is exactly what we are here for. Youth Employment UK has expert knowledge across the whole youth employment landscape, what is driving youth unemployment, what the system issues are, what young people aged 11-30 including those who are NEET are telling us what works and does not work and of course what the impacts and plans are of policy and policy makers. Add in the expert insight we have on what makes #GoodYouthEmployment and the value of Membership speaks for itself. For 12 years we have been digging into the issues and solutions and given that youth unemployment is a growing issue, we absolutely need to see more of that expert insight put into practice by employers, providers and policy makers. Employers who understand the issues facing young people are much better equipped to ensure that their business is part of the solution and having a real people, social and future skills impact. On T Level Thursday of National Apprenticeship Week, I’ve been with Make UK members at Leeds City College’s School of Engineering, where there are around sixty 16-18 year olds studying engineering and manufacturing T Levels. Those employers who are engaged with T Levels are finding them a useful way of widening their talent pool and developing a pipeline of future apprentices.
