GRANTS! Alzheimer's Research UK Inspire Fund - deadline 14th October / info webinar 17th September The?seed funding call?is open to new applicants to the Inspire Fund. We encourage applications from people, organisations and communities with ideas, passion and ability to realise innovative public engagement projects on the topic of dementia. From those within or outside the research community, those with a track record in public engagement and those looking to apply their skills to this important issue for the first time. Through the scheme, we want to build relationships between communities and researchers, and are especially interested in proposals led by community groups or organisations. We strongly encourage applicants to forge links with collaborators or groups to strengthen ideas. We recognise this can take time, and will be supporting relationship building in funded projects. Projects can use a range of methods to engage with their audience. In Switzerland the Botnar Foundation has today decided to invest more than 1 billion USD in top quality immune engineering science over the next 15 years. By the way the same breakthrough technology that Engimmune Therapeutics is also based on. Also - in contrast to Denmark where university professors receive zero funds from their employers - the Swiss universities are in the global top class. It is such ambitious initiatives - not least together with the very favourable economic conditions for entrepreneurs that enables Switzerland to attract and maintain world class entrepreneurs and venture capital - that keep the country among the global start-up elite. Denmark could learn A LOT from Switzerland.

The process of selecting which of the research project proposals submitted by the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, Lund University of Technology, and Malm? University will receive donations from the 'Mats Paulsson Foundations' is well underway, carried out by members of the foundation’s Research and Innovation Council. ? The recipients of the donations will be announced during a ceremony at Medicon Village on 18 October. Earlier that day, a Science for Lunch event will be held, exploring the achievements of previous grant recipients from the Mats Paulsson Foundations. ? The public foundation 'Mats Paulsson’s Foundation for Research, Innovation, and Societal Development' is the sole owner of Medicon Village. The idea behind both the 'Mats Paulsson Foundations' and Medicon Village is to contribute to new projects focusing on important research and innovation that improve people’s opportunities for a better life. The sustainable ownership model ensures that the return on capital, together with surpluses from activities within Medicon Village, is reinvested in research. 'Mats Paulsson’s Foundation for Research, Innovation, and Societal Development' is part of the 'Mats Paulsson Foundations', which, since their formation, have donated more than SEK 219 million to academic research and other causes. ? FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Philanthropic donations to the University of Utah's Center for Genomic Medicine will support two to three Clinical Pilot Awards of $30,000 to $50,000 each. The mission of the Center for Genomic Medicine is to transform healthcare by catalyzing the translation of basic genomic research into equitable, personalized healthcare. The awards are focused on executing clinical applications of this mission. Seed grants will be awarded for a period of one year and are expected to have measurable deliverables/outcomes after the one-year funding period.
