??Reflections on building my own geospatial app Over the past few weeks I have been accelerating my front-end development skills in an effort to slowly build my dream geospatial app. A few thoughts: ?? JavaScript is a frustrating language and unfortunately, a necessary evil ?? GenAI makes learning so much more effective when done right. It can write code for you but it's much better for personal development if you use it to guide you as an advisor ?? Having a goal in mind gives you the drive and passion to work through the issues I have a long way to go but it's great to see the progress already. Below is a link to my new website. Let me know your thoughts!

Hey Everyone! While working on a project, I encountered a use case requiring simultaneous execution of multiple Supabase queries based on dynamically selected categories by users. The objective was to compile all resulting video lists from these queries into a single list. After an hour of developing the logic, I found a solution utilizing the Future.wait([]) method in Dart, which efficiently handles multiple queries in parallel and returns a list of responses. The detailed solution is illustrated in the attached picture. I'm open to other valuable solutions for this use case. Please feel free to share any ideas or approaches you think might be helpful. #everyone #highlights #highlights #insights #Flutter #Supabase #Dart #MobileDevelopment #CrossPlatform #AppDevelopment #TechInnovation #FlutterDev #AsyncProgramming #FutureWait #CodingChallenges #TechSolutions #DynamicQueries #MobileApp #ProgrammingTips #FlutterCommunity #TechTrends #DeveloperLife #CodeNewbie #TechTips

First blog post in a long time! I started writing a post ~2 years ago on adventures counting 130M U.S. buildings by zipcode and finally circled back to write it up properly. Everybody is a winner really, but DuckDB, Ibis, Apache Arrow, and GeoParquet were absolutely essential for getting the data into and out of all of the various engines. Give it a read and let me know what I missed! https://lnkd.in/evgVe3vD

Can you believe now anyone can work with geospatial databases and build apps and dashboards without any training? ?? When I started working at Felt, the first thing that surprised me was how easy it was to work with geospatial data and how delightful the software is. Now, we've taken it a step further: you can work with live connections to databases like PostGIS or Snowflake and create dashboards from them. But the friendly approach remains the same, so now anybody can work online with geospatial databases and get insights from them. This is Felt 3.0. Some interesting findings in the latest Stack Overflow developer survey. In the chart below I see a correlation between years of experience and median salary. Early in their career developers work as data analysts or application testers. They might work on games and mobile apps. Then they move into higher paying roles like data science and enterprise software development. When they can no longer keep up with the tech they move into management ;-) https://lnkd.in/dFBz7Pyi

Dart won't be shipping Macros. After two years investigating how to bring static metaprogramming in Dart the team decided to reject the feature. And now the question is, "Is it a bad thing?" I don't think so. The Dart team was transparent with the reasons that brought to this decision and they promised that they are focusing on delivering some other great features, some taken from the macros investigation like the augmentations, but also first-party data classes, primary constructors and improvements to serialization and build_runner. What do you think of this decision by the Dart team? Full article by the Dart team: https://lnkd.in/dPSKgRqW
