This Veteran's Day, CBTeam honors and thanks all who have served. This year, we are shining a special light on the mental health needs of women veterans. As more women join the armed forces, their unique challenges are becoming more clear—like the need for gender-sensitive care, overcoming stigma, and finding supportive spaces to heal. Studies show that women veterans are often at a greater risk for mental health struggles compared to male veterans, including PTSD and anxiety, yet they face specific barriers to accessing the care they need. In a recent study surveying woman veterans, common barriers reported were a lack of care options for military sexual trauma, women-only group therapy options, reports of stranger harassment at the VA, and lack of female providers. At CBTeam, we're committed to raising awareness and advocating for care that meets the needs of every veteran. Located adjacent to Hanscom Air Force Base (Mass.), CBTeam welcomes all veterans in need of mental health care, including those seeking treatment for PTSD or other anxiety conditions. https://cbteam.org/ #VeteransDay #WomenVeterans #MentalHealthMatters #SupportOurTroops #CBTeam

Did you know that only 6% of physicians in the United States are Latino? Why this stat matters is because today, roughly 10% of seniors 65 and older are Latinos, but by 2030 that number will nearly double and by 2060 even it will be even higher. Not having enough Latino physicians to care for aging seniors will ultimately shift the responsibility to unpaid family caregivers. Which is why planning for this shift now is critical to help make sure that care is appropriately represented for all, even as we age. It's for this reason that we are so proud to be founded by not one, but TWO Latino physicians who are both military veterans on a new mission to change the narrative on how we age and how we view aging. Our goal at Cline is to become the brand that celebrates the active-aging lifestyle of today's seniors, giving them the confidence and comfort they need to live independently longer. Happy #NationalLatinoPhysicianDay 2024 to all the Latino/a physicians. cc Michael Gonzalez, MD, FACEP, Mario Amaro, MD

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is enhancing its AI-powered suicide prevention tool, REACH VET, to better address the unique experiences of women veterans, including adding military sexual trauma (MST) and intimate partner violence as risk factors. This move comes after concerns raised by the Disabled American Veterans and a joint investigation by The Fuller Project, Military Times, and Military.com, which highlighted how the current model prioritizes male veterans and fails to account for critical factors affecting women. VA’s update, planned for early 2025, will incorporate additional variables such as medical conditions specific to women, aiming to make the tool more equitable and effective. The changes follow data showing significant increases in suicide rates among women veterans, with VA’s 2023 report revealing a 24.1% rise from 2020 to 2021. Lawmakers, including Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chair Jon Tester, have introduced legislation requiring the VA to include gender-specific risk factors in REACH VET. As women veterans become the fastest-growing demographic, these adjustments will ensure that VA’s mental health services are more inclusive, providing tailored support to all veterans at risk. #veterans #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #ai #womenveterans #militarysexualtrauma #veteransaffairs #reachvet #mentalhealthcare #veteransupport Source- https://lnkd.in/gUuj3PUJ

Urgent call to action: #Veterans The FDA is actively considering approval of MDMA-assisted therapy, which has been proven to heal 71% of those who suffer from PTSD. However, recently, a panel of so-called “experts” ignored the pleas of millions of veterans and testimonies by VSOs, including the DAV, VFW, and WWP, by advising the FDA against approving MDMA-AT as a breakthrough PTSD treatment. Their vote was a gut punch to the millions of veterans who’ve hoped and prayed for this treatment to be made available stateside and through the VA. The FDA will make its final decision on August 11, 2024. It’s time to jump into action and get this over the finish line. Join our efforts to help veterans and all who suffer from PTSD. Sign up here to let us know how you can help. Millions of veteran lives hinge on FDA approval of MDMA- AT. Sign up now https://lnkd.in/gufXuNyz to join our efforts in getting this lifesaving PTSD treatment into our VA healthcare system ASAP. Every day that passes is another 17-44 veterans' lives lost, and we cannot afford to wait for this treatment any longer. Learn how emotional memories are encoded electrochemically on the basel lateral amygdala. Once the unpleasant memories are encoded, many people try to deal with the symptoms using coping techniques. I teach you to go to the unpleasant memories for the last time and decode how they are stored. You can't change history, but you can change how you feel about it. Change the encoding, means you change the cause. Once that's changed, no more symptoms! please message me for a free chat, or visit www.themanseretreat.com #ptsd #ptsdrecovery #mentalhealth #emotionaltrauma #childhoodtrauma #veterans #policeofficers

This blog post, titled?Innocence Betrayed: "How Childhood Molestation Intersects with Moral Injury in Female Soldiers," discusses the profound impact of childhood sexual abuse on women who later experience moral injury in military service. It describes how early traumatic experiences, like molestation, can lead to lasting feelings of shame, betrayal, and identity challenges, which may be exacerbated by further trauma, such as Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Research indicates that women with multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are at a higher risk of encountering MST, resulting in severe mental and physical health issues, including depression, relationship problems, and substance abuse. The Moral Injury Support Network for Servicewomen, Inc. (MISNS) aims to address these compounded traumas through initiatives like the ATHENA Nexus Project, providing support, resources, and trauma-informed care for affected female veterans.
