I also remind you to create that culture in yourself as well. Even though I have and continue to work in great cultures, it’s my unsettled mind and perfectionism and self set standards that would keep or wake me at night. Mind your mind, set your personal culture of work and life priorities, write it down, set alarms or notices, and put those key personal culture investments in your work calendar. Yesterday, we celebrated Saint Martin’s Day—a day rooted in tradition, community and kindness. I wish I could start this first day of pride month with a motivational statement. But to be completely honest, it gives me anxiety to post about it, especially when I post from our hotel account. There is so much talk of businesses misusing this movement by putting the rainbow in their logo, just for the sake of marketing. As a queer hotelière, of course I want to use our hotel's platform to raise awareness and support my community, but will people recognize it as such or will they think we are just jumping on the bandwagon? How do you create posts that show that there is real effort behind the images and text? Raising awareness makes it easy for people to point fingers at the little details you may have overseen and it is horrible that it causes anxiety in us; that it makes us second guess whether we really want to put ourselves out there like that.
