In good old times, I believed that populists had little interest in art, culture, or creativity. However, in Slovakia, they are now turning their attention to the cultural sphere—likely to appease those with regressive views (those who literally believe that the Earth is flat) , as if offering them "imaginary corpses of modern artists" to satisfy them. Official rhetoric proclaims that culture must be "Slovak and no other" and that only those who share their mindset will be permitted to remain. We've witnessed respected artists and cultural leaders being dismissed, marking a troubling shift in how culture is being controlled Nothing new, we have seen it all around the world in different periods. In Slovakia probably during communism. So, what can we do? The answer lies in unity and collective resilience. Networking with like-minded individuals who share your passion for cultural preservation can be a powerful source of energy, inspiration, and support. Connecting with those who have faced similar challenges in other contexts offers hope and valuable lessons. That’s why I’m participating in this upcoming event—it’s more than just a gathering; it’s a beacon of solidarity and a platform for shared ideas. Purpose. I’m at Thrivent’s Business Development Conference this week (speaking later today) and yesterday we kicked off with the incredibly talented Jade Simmons. She inspired us with her musical talents and storytelling about purpose. Key highlights from Jade: ??We don’t just have jobs, we have callings. ??Your purpose is NOT the thing you do. It’s the things that happens in others when you do what you do. ??Purpose lives to bring all of what you do and all of who you are together. ??Purpose lives to change the rhythm.
