Get to know Luis M Rosero, MBA, CPA, Controller at Tidal Basin! We spoke with Luis for National Hispanic Heritage Month to learn more about his responsibilities here, as well as his favorite aspects of Latin culture. ??Tell us about your role "As Controller, I am mostly responsible for the accounting of the company. I oversee our financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable teams. I think two of the most important responsibilities of a Controller are 1) To ensure our numbers are accurate and complete. This is very important, of course, because it helps us make better decisions as a company and make sure we can achieve our goals. 2) To safeguard the assets of the company – this is done in part by ensuring we have good internal controls in place." ?? What do you enjoy most about your job? "The two things I like about this job so far are the people and the opportunities. The people are great – all my interactions have been great so far. I have seen a lot of collaboration and support across the board. Regarding the opportunities, with the company growing and having big targets for the next several years, I see a lot of potential and opportunities to help the organization grow and add value." ?? What are your favorite aspects of Latin culture? "First, the food—food is always a big deal for me! But beyond that, I think what stands out, and is probably true for many cultures, is the central role and importance of family."
