If you’re feeling lousy because you haven’t made a change you want to make, it might be a systems issue rather than a personal failure. We tend to center ourselves as independent actors when it comes to change, and our culture supports this model–bootstraps and all that. But you don’t exist in a vacuum. You are part of a system that includes your physical environment, the people around you, the structure of your day, your perceptions, and the myriad connections between them. You may have inadvertently built your current system around maintaining the status quo. That’s ok - over time, you can design a new one. Each element of your system contains variables that can be tweaked, from tiny adjustments to more significant shifts. Remove the blame - you are a good person who is trying. But what got you here won’t get you there. It’s time for some new tools. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll encourage you to take on the role of detective. You’ll create some distance from the details of your desired change and focus instead on how your systems can support that change.?Let's start moving those butterfly wings. #systemsthinking #butterflyeffect #changemanagement #executivecoaching

forget the perfect routine focus on what matters most we often hear about the perfect daily routine—exercise, meditate, journal, time block. these hacks are great, but let's be real, life doesn’t always go according to plan. your kid has a nightmare at 2 am and doesn’t go back to sleep until 6 (when you’re supposed to wake up). or your wife's grandmother breaks her femur and you have to drop everything to be by her side. ?? this literally happened to me last week. instead of striving for a flawless routine with infinite hacks, i practice anti-hacks by focusing on my big 3. the critical actions that move the business forward. whether the day goes perfectly or turns into a disaster, i ensure i complete those 3 actions. this way, no matter what, i always feel a sense of accomplishment—not based on an ideal routine, but on what truly matters to me and my business. embrace the unpredictability of life. focus on your big 3, and feel liberated from doing what you think you're supposed to do. what helpful anti-hack do you use? --- i’m sirvan (yes-sir mini-van), i help founders get free from daily operations with system thinking and process design. follow for #operations, #leadership, #business, #processes

Expectations we set for ourselves or others are not always met. As we ascend into middle management roles within an organization, it’s not uncommon to observe peers scolding their subordinates. Reflecting on my early career, I recall being frequently and sternly reprimanded by my seniors and bosses. In Japanese companies, I’ve noticed a tendency for those with more experience or age to become easily tempered. Despite my efforts to avoid becoming like that, I sometimes feel myself edging closer to it. What I’ve come to realize is that emotional agility is a crucial skill I need to develop for my future career. It’s not just about managing our own emotions but also about fostering an environment that supports the well-being of everyone involved. I’d like to pursue organizations or teams that value and promote the well-being of their members, recognizing that emotional agility is one of the key factors to achieve it.
