Spring fever is in full bloom! Derby season starts Saturday, prom pictures are all over social media, and graduation gowns are hanging up to let the wrinkles fall out of them. It’s an exciting time! If you have a high school junior, it’s also the perfect time to work on what your student will be doing after high school graduation next year. Community college Four-year university Gap year Trade school Workforce Military Study abroad Americorps All of those are great options and pathways to success. But navigating all those choices can be daunting, which is where I come in. I can cut through the noise and do the research on all the options for you. I put together an easy-to-follow calendar with all the tasks needed for your student to have plenty of options to choose from a year from now. I walk you and your student through the process with encouragement and accountability. I provide another source of support for all things related to life after high school (housing, scholarships, etc.). I’m happy to provide references and set up and info chat with anyone interested (since our work together is virtual, no need to be local to me). Comment or message if you have questions. I have limited spots for the class of 2025 now open.

Excellent feature article by Vanessa Junkin (SU Class of 2011) in Salisbury University's Fall 2024 magazine "The Sea Gull." The cover story describes SU's evolving strategy to improve access and affordability to study abroad and to expand study abroad to all students . Austin, who appears on the cover of the magazine is a male SU student majoring in mathematics. Prior to the pandemic, less than 5% of study abroad students in US higher education were Math or Computer Science majors and only about 1/3 were male. This past summer at our SU In Spain Global Campus, 38% of students enrolled in one of the four courses taught by SU professors self-identified as African American and Latinx, exceeding the national averages for minority students studying abroad. Prior to the pandemic, Salisbury University was regularly included in the US Department of Education's annual Open Doors Report Top 40 in the US among Carnegie masters universities for total number of students studying abroad at masters. The pandemic dealt a severe blow to the SU's resources to support high impact learning practices like study abroad, study away, and global internships. Now, we have figured out how to rebuild our study abroad and study away tradition while doing more with less and being more inclusive at the same time. It is working. At SU, Tomorrow is on the Horizon! https://lnkd.in/efyNSFgu #studyabroad #highereducation
