?? November is National Scholarship Month! ?? National Scholarship Month is a time to raise awareness about the importance of scholarships and to encourage students, parents, and educators to take advantage of scholarship opportunities. The month aims to highlight the financial assistance available to help students reduce the cost of college, vocational schools, and other educational pursuits. Scholarships play a key role in making higher education more affordable and reducing student debt. In fact, each year, the U.S. Department of Education and colleges & universities award an estimated $95 billion in grants and scholarships — with $60 billion coming directly from colleges themselves. ?? However, many students miss out on free financial aid opportunities. In the 2019-2020 academic year, $9.5 billion in Pell Grants alone went unclaimed! Don't leave money on the table. Be sure to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and maximize your chances of receiving these vital funds. ?? #Scholarships #FinancialAid #FAFSA #CollegeAffordability #StudentDebt #HigherEd #EducationMatters #Grants

“Many of the comparatively few universities that serve rural students are eliminating large numbers of programs and majors, blaming plummeting enrollment and resulting financial crises. Nationwide, college enrollment has declined by 2 million students, or 10 percent, in the 10 years ending in 2022, hitting rural schools particularly hard. An increasing number of rural private, nonprofit colleges are not only cutting majors, but closing altogether.”

Do these people want to kill our dreams? Because…What is all this? Isn't there any other way to disappoint people than playing(hide and seek) with their education all the time? Today, I woke up to the news that the school won’t be opening on November 18th as planned…until demands and all agreements in the MOU of 2021 between the Government and the University of Liberia Faculty Association are met. Stephen, this is supposed to be your senior semester after juggling with life, putting in tons of hours of studies, impact-making (through volunteering), and building start-up that aims to positively impact the status quo. ??Haven’t we (citizens of Liberia and more specifically, students of the state-run University had enough already). You won’t believe this but trust me… ??Last semester ran for at least 6 months. ??There have been a couple of abrupt closures of school. It now feels like the new normal. ??The last semester ended in July and it’s almost December. “No School Opening” We are aging every day. Should it be the “normal” for Students of the University of Liberia to have their lives STAGNATED? Sometimes I wish dealing with the stress of being a government school student in Liberia is factored not used to refer to me or anything else. Sometimes, oftentimes actually, I feel like crying; honestly. I pray it doesn’t kill my dreams. Most of all, I wish I was privileged to attend some private schools and/or be on some kind of scholarship that would help my dreams become a reality. But here's the thing… to earn a scholarship, one has to be a scholar. Click here to read the heartbreaking release: https://lnkd.in/eTCPPyYg —— - PS: I didn't plan to post this but it has been a long time coming and until we speak up about these things… Nothing; absolutely NOTHING will be done about it. Such an age-old problem. Deep-rooted in its history.
