Our #initiative, ‘From the ARRchives,’ is more than just a series of conversations; it’s a heartfelt effort to #connect with individuals passionate about sustainability and art. This journey led us to the most humble soul, and we couldn't be more grateful. We had the incredible fortune of welcoming Ms. Chandrika Sahay, Principal Architect and Director at Meraki Dezine, to ARRCOAT. Ms. Sahay, a true visionary in architecture, has been making an impact for over two #decades with her innovative and sustainable designs. In our #conversation, we delved into a range of topics—art, architecture, and sustainability—exploring how Ms. Sahay seamlessly blends these elements into her work. Her words resonated deeply with us as she emphasised staying true to one’s #work, ensuring that everything else will naturally fall into place. I forget what these images are called but the point is to read the picture as "Collaboration over Competition." Last week, I heard a lot about this at?#CREtech,?and I was ? elated ?. If you've talked to me in a more intimate setting recently, you've probably picked up on some annoyance. I've been in this #proptech / #smartbuildings / etc space for over a decade (a recent birthday always sheds some fresh light on one's journey, eh?), and I'm so, so ready for buildings to catch up and make use of cool tech. Even the best-dressed Ryan J. S. Baxter mentioned that until data is complete, the ?? vibes ?? of a building operator will be more accurate than any AI. (this one hurt a bit, but he's mathematically accurate) Back at the recent Nexus Labs NexusCon, the Vendors vs Buyers session (led by Brian Vaughn) talked about this in depth. Maybe we need to do something different. CREtech sessions like that of Carrie Denning Jackson and Gina Ciganik's hit on this, too. ? "This isn't IP to protect. It should be shared. Anything that elevates wellness and community should be treated that way." - Carrie ? "There are often no cost or performance barriers to stepping up a color ranking (to healthier building or decorating materials), you just have to know what to ask." - Gina (who also stated linoleum is cool again, you heard it here first.) L.D. Salmanson said, "Only build what you have to. I'd rather have an 80% solution than a theoretical 100% solution that will never come." Hrisa Gatzoulis said, "The legacy of buildings has to include wellness and sustainability. Don't just measure, but look at it all holistically." Sevinc Yuksel said, "Anything done today has to do with sustainability. You can't take sustainability out of progress initiatives." Confirmation bias is powerful, but based on these on-stage comments and conversations I've had with other vendors, maybe it's time we collaboratively make a change instead of out-dashboarding one another. I'm stubbornly optimistic. Let's not make me wrong, too. ??

Curiosity moves limitations and sparks IMAGINATION.

There comes a time in many of our lives when we realize that our path doesn’t quite fit. Maybe it’s the grind that feels stifling or the expectations that don’t match our dreams. We see things differently, and it pushes us to explore new directions, even when those around us don’t understand. This moment came when I chose to embrace my passions for architecture and art in a way that defied tradition. It wasn’t easy. There were days when it felt like I was speaking a language no one else could understand. The more I strayed from the well-trodden path, the more alone I felt. But I couldn’t ignore the pull toward something more. Something that felt true to who I am. And so, I kept going, even when doubts crept in, and the path ahead was unclear. It’s hard to keep pushing forward when the world doesn’t seem to see the value in what you’re doing. But I’ve learned that sometimes, the most misunderstood paths are the ones that lead to the most incredible destinations. Along the way, I found others who saw what I saw, people who believed in my vision and encouraged me to keep going. Their support turned my struggles into strength and my doubts into determination. To anyone who feels like they’re on a misunderstood path, I want to say this: Don’t give up. The journey may be challenging, and the road may be lonely at times, but you’re not alone. There’s a community of dreamers, creators, investors, and innovators out there who understand.
