"Vote like your daughter's life depends on it because it does." This poignant statement emphasizes the critical importance of political engagement, particularly in advocating for women's rights and reproductive freedom. In a world where women's rights are still under threat, every vote counts in shaping policies that impact the lives and futures of daughters everywhere. The reference to "The Handmaid's Tale" serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of complacency and the potential consequences of failing to protect women's rights. By voting with this awareness, individuals contribute to the ongoing fight against oppression and ensure a brighter, more equitable future for future generations. Ultimately, political action is essential in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all individuals, regardless of gender. #womensrights #vote #keephandmaidstalefiction @humanrights #equity #empathy #compassion #joy #Kindness #rippleeffect #communiity #womenhelpingwomen #gratitude #grace #changeyourlife #changeyourmindset #mavensdoitbetter #brandidentity #maventip #impact #storytelling #workplaceculture #healthylifestyle #flipthescript

The ugly truth many of you refuse to acknowledge when 'complaining' about relationships (which is code for complaining about women/feminism). My grandparents were married for a long time before my grandfather passed away, but guess what? I would NEVER want a marriage like theirs. My grandmother was married off as a young teenager and had no education nor was she in a position to support herself.? She was also poor and Black living in the Deep South. What choices did she have? This was the reality of MANY of our grandmothers (white/Black/ POC) and it's a sad truth that these women could never fully live their lives on their terms. Just a reminder these gains have also been fairly recent and many of the attacks on reproductive rights are very much in response to this.? Not interested in going back. It's Wednesday, y'all. #wednesdaythoughts #womenrights #reproductiverights

My thoughts on this Election Day: This election is significant! For women, the stakes include reproductive rights, equal pay, and healthcare access. YOUR choice impacts access to reproductive healthcare, such as abortion and family planning services, and gender equality. The issues of paid family leave, childcare support, and workplace protections are also in the power of YOUR vote. VP Harris is a strong advocate for expanding healthcare access, with a particular focus on reproductive rights and mental health services. She supports protecting and expanding the Affordable Care Act and ensuring that women have access to affordable reproductive healthcare, including abortion services. Mental health access is another priority, with VP Harris pushing for more funding and resources for mental health programs, especially in underserved areas. I will NOT support someone I believe is consistently disrespectful of women and causes constant chaos—someone who does not take responsibility for their irresponsible actions. I can and probably will write a BEST SELLER book on that type of behavior and its effects. Therefore, if you disagree with my post, feel free to scroll by or delete our connection. #ISupportHarris #Vote2024 #MyVoteCounts #IVotedEarly #womenrights

If the way to make relationships great again is to entrap women, you don’t want a partner, but an indentured servant (or worse). For instance, if you are a good #employer, you should train up & empower your employees so they *could* leave but choose not to. They stay out of loyalty and commitment. Shouldn’t love, loyalty, and commitment in a #marriage be even greater? Personally, I grew up in a religion where #divorce is allowed and women have had separate property rights https://lnkd.in/e53tSByp and “bank accounts” for 1400 years. That means, a woman *can* leave a man, even if divorce is the most hated legal thing in Islam (not to be invoked lightly). The marriage contract is essentially a prenup. According to this divorce lawyer on “Diary of a CEO”, marriage is “an economy” and the way to avoid divorce is to be honest about that up front. https://lnkd.in/ejfCnX8K This, from Little Women, remains relevant: “I am just a woman. And as a woman there is no way for me to make my own money.” https://lnkd.in/eiK2s79R It has been only 50 years that American women could open a bank account. Most cultures that are called “Islamic” chose to reject and not accept that part of Shariah law, while hyperfocusing on policing women’s clothing. For instance, many South Asian Muslims follow local culture of a woman’s father owing a dowry when Islam requires the husband to provide a dower to the wife. Knowing my rights made me fairly out of sync with men (and their mothers) who followed culture > religion. Add to that having an American passport makes you never sure what the man values most about you as a potential wife. So, I’ve remained independent. I like to de-risk situations before entering. Marriage, as a South Asian American woman, especially as one far too aware of my rights and with too much to say, just had way too many risks. I never met a man + his mother combo who did not make me feel suffocated. Women, of any culture, who are on the neurodiversity spectrum or who have intense, crowded brains often struggle in marriage. https://lnkd.in/ekhxKYsN If your job is to be “an ornament”, then that is a life of meeting non-stop external expectations from a husband, in-laws, and society on social norms. My wiring is more: https://lnkd.in/eBaPVpyp Recall an “auntie” telling my mother she was far too kind to us girls and was not preparing us for the reality of marriage. Now, am further going against the status quo by focusing on #womenshealth and being a CEO. That, traditionally, has been a man’s job. Frankly, as a start up #founder in #FemTech, the checks that will launch us are coming in from women. Women who have and control our own money, bodies, health, identities (keeping your own name after marriage) are able to build a better society. When women are healthier, all of society benefits. Upshot, I like systems where both women and men have balanced power via financial independence.

Standing strong for women’s rights is at the core of social sustainability and responsibility. This is because the resilience of all social systems emerges from the coherence of relational processes evident in that system. Coherence is enabled through a living experience and it is experiencing as dynamic that underscores the quality of social impact that any socially purposed organization is able to bring to the table. At Interior Womens Centre Society, advocating for women's right is rooted on a lived experience of the challenges that women face. Here, feminism is framed as a practice of freedom and relational care, systemic change and sustained activism that aligns individual empowerment with a collective vision for justice and equity. #socialsustainability #socialimpact

Proud to co-author this piece with Susan McPherson and Michelle Greene in Fast Company today. –– Restrictive reproductive policies are costing the U.S. economy billions and impacting workers. As a Latina and Don't Ban Equality supporter, I know firsthand how these policies disproportionately impact women of color and low-income communities. When we talk about economic resilience, reproductive rights have to be part of the conversation. Business leaders, it’s on us to listen and act.?

By tomorrow night, the campaign for Prop 1 (the NYS Equal Rights Amendment) will come to a close as the last New Yorkers cast their vote. We have the chance to make sure our reproductive rights, including abortion, are permanently protected here in New York. We can close loopholes in the state constitution to make sure that no New Yorker can be discriminated against by the government, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, pregnancy status, disability status, or whether someone is LGBT. Prop 1 cements these rights so they cannot be rolled back by out-of-touch politicians in the future. We need to say #YesOnProp1! Here are some easy ways to help us in the homestretch: ?? VOTE!!! If you didn’t vote early, tomorrow is your big day! Grab a friend and get out to the polls! ?? Send a text to your loved ones reminding them to flip over their ballot and VOTE YES on Prop 1. Make sure they have a plan to vote! ?? Share this post or other content from @ YesOnProp1NY on Instagram. ?? Check out the Yes On Prop 1 campaign toolkit (which includes a social media guide) to create your own social media content! https://lnkd.in/gNs_YJ-S

“If you look at the data, there’s just broad swaths of people across demographic groups who agree with the need to codify those protections.” - GSG Partner Angela Kuefler? ? The proposed Equal Rights Amendment in New York would explicitly protect reproductive rights and prohibit discrimination across a wider range of characteristics. According to our team’s research, this critical legislation is supported by a bipartisan majority of New Yorkers — we look forward to seeing its passage come November. Read more from Gothamist.? ? #EqualRights #EqualRightsAmendment #ReproRights #NYPolitics #NewYork

As we celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, I reflect on what it means to be a woman in today's world. We've come a long way since our mothers' time, and their struggles paved the path for our progress. Our mothers fought for: 1. Equal access to education 2. Economic empowerment 3. Reproductive rights 4. Social justice We've made remarkable strides: 1. Increased representation in leadership 2. Breaking glass ceilings in various industries 3. Challenging patriarchal norms 4. Amplifying marginalized voices However, despite progress, challenges persist: 1. Gender-based violence 2. Pay disparities 3. Limited access to healthcare 4. Stereotyping and bias As women today, we must: 1. Honor our mothers' legacies 2. Continue pushing boundaries 3. Support and uplift each other 4. Empower future generations #womenempowerment #womenrights #internationaldayofthegirlchild #unitednations #sdg #womenoflife #books #janelleobieroma #coach
