We are also offering unlimited talk, text, and data to our customers in impacted areas from September 26 through October 2. This commitment reflects our belief that connectivity is a lifeline during emergencies. As a tumultuous storm season continues to batter the coastal regions of the US, AT&T stays committed to emergency preparedness and response. PROTECTING THE GRID is imperative to our way of life - it is the Life Blood of our society and will only be amplified in that role as we move forward in time. That is why many of us believe that protecting the grid through the use of HARDENED MICROGRIDS at the most critical locations on the high-voltage network give us the best opportunity to survive, or quickly recover, from a wide-area event such as a hurricane or much more malicious, an EMP attack. That mitigation process must start immediately!

I listen to the NC Gov and emergency response leadership update on progress. Having some experience in disaster response and listening to their progress I find it concerning to hear vague media questions and leadership responses. We know that responders and local citizens are doing everything humanly possible to address the immediate response for this disaster. You will find no shortage of hero’s here! Disaster Response Plans are developed to be executed with speed and the ability to rapidly scale up operations. Plans have typically been developed with most probable and worst case scenarios and will identify response resources in those cases. To appropriately assess how well plans are being executed, there must be transparency and important questions need to be answered to ensure accountability. - how many response teams, helicopters, boats, etc are identified in the disaster response plan, and currently how many are deployed, and what is currently needed - what other resource have we identified - and those resources identified, when will they be operational. What you will hear are vague answers like -we are mobilizing as many resources as quickly as possible - makes it impossible to maintain accountability for executing a plan. They know this! Why are we not asking logical questions and why do we not have more specific answers. Either we don’t know or we don’t want you to know.
