I recently had a conversation with someone regarding securing a new job in a different industry. I explained that a lot of companies wont even entertain you without experience. We have all seen it in job adverts "x amount of years experience required" and it makes me wonder how many people who would be amazing candidates slip through the net. In my case, I had worked as a care worker, in a domiciliary setting as well as clinical. I then progressed to field care supervisor, and then care coordinator. These skills gave me invaluable experience in leadership, organisation, planning, team work and prioritising. Yet if I was to go for a job in let's say transport planning, chances are I probably wouldn't get an interview. My point is, industry knowledge can be taught, but deep rooted skills, no matter the industry, are interchangeable. Experience doesn't always equate to suitability. Give people the opportunity to prove themselves, and it may just be the best chance you ever take. #recruitment #interchangeableskills #skillset #employers

The greatest hurdle, stumble and foe for all #jobseekers?is a missed opportunity. When you find a job posting for a job that sounds amazing... you study the job posting, work on your resume, and go to submit your application only to be redirected to the website that says "Sorry, this job has been filled." Lesson Learned: Click the APPLY NOW button first to see if the job really is available before investing more time. #veteran #jobsearchwoes #staypositive

It's the end of the year and I have yet to secure a full time job.? I am 35, married with 2 kids, and I am barely able to provide like I use to.? I have multiple areas of experience in different job categories.? Yes. I graduated from ITT Tech. However, I did so a year before they were de-accredited and then shut down the year after.? Why does it seem like I am denied everything I apply to due to the school I attended?? Check my employment and experience!? It is at the point of desperation in terms of finding full time employment.? Don't judge someone by their schooling or professional background!? I feel like I am being denied not only due to the school I attended but my work history as well.? Besides my time as Active Duty Navy and Navy Reserves,? I have not held a single job for more than 2 years (besides my current part-time job).? It is not that I fail at the work given to me in each position.? It is more of a problem with government contracting as well as a chance to improve myself in a new environment.? I have almost 20 years of experience within multiple domains and I am still seen as a failure or even worse:? A failure of an employee.? Some people like myself and others need to be given a chance to show their experience and also be given the chance to pass down their knowledge.? Hiring managers and recruiters need to take this in consideration.? We may not answer the way you want or even meet your requirements, however, we work our ass off and will prove ourselves faster than you can blink!? Give us a damn chance for a change instead of ignoring us! #recruiters?#hiringmanagers?#managers
