I had the privilege of discussing two topics I'm passionate about during a presentation today. We highlighted the importance of #continuity using Titanic trivia to aid understanding connecting both themes in a single presentation. To promote #BCAW2024, our team (Jo Heath and I) showcased how we're promoting #resilience at the Department of Internal Affairs (NZ) and how our colleagues can contribute to these efforts. “Empowering tomorrow: building resilience today”.

Appointing a Transformation and Development portfolio in existing exco, or onboard a new officer. Have the new exco member establish development needs within existing structures #dontbreakthingsthatareworking. Have the needs identified and create development forums. Use the skills development levy at the companies disposal to have formal training offered. While all this is happening in the background, actively fulfil human capital out of the legislative needs as the opportunities present - example: resignations, retirement. Groups that are possible candidates for favored uptake may include: socio-economic, race, sex, sexuality, etc. There are two congruent time-lines running for implementation. 1) The development of forums and development opportunities are short-term for immediate needs, but spanned over a long term period to have the effects patina. 2) Fulfilment of human capital may be realized within short term time lines, but should also be considered and have contingency built in - to mitigate for unknown factors that may present. #openyourdoorsandwewillenter. Lastly as the saying goes, you gotta spend money to make money. I think the sentiment holds true here, as well. You got to be able to make resources and funding available to reap the rewards of change.The costs of development and appointmenting a new exco member can be offset against the punative costs that will be saved by becoming complaint. The rewards I think are having a human capital pool, and identity reawakening of the community representing the ebb and flow of the tides of modern day life in realtime. A theme that presented from the judges was fairness for all. It was a welcomed thought. How do we transform with the least amount of fallout. No fallout? These are my thoughts. I think it was an excellent topic to offer the candidates to deliberate on. As a member of the public I enjoyed being engaged. Both teams had stand out moments. Great TV. #relatablecontent
