The Federal CM/ECF system experienced a nationwide disruption in the delivery of Notices of Electronic Filings (NEFs) from Monday, January 20, 2025, through Wednesday, January 22, 2025. During this time, many NEFs were not successfully delivered to all intended recipients.? ? Clients who subscribe to our service, ECF Assurance, were already notified of filings that were not initially received. If you are a poor tax payer whose GSTN password expires on a peak hour date like 3B due date, be ready to face weird response from GSTN. It will mandate and allow you to change the password. But while trying to login, it will say invalid user id or password. If you reset, the same error will be there. And if you ask help desk, they will send a standard email asking for the details you already sent (like GSTIN, error screen etc). And they will ask you to di common things which you already did like browser, clearing history etc. Solution ? It was contributed by some professionals in my broadcast and various groups. Simple - after changing the password, if it is changed successfully and still says "invalid user ID or password", simply stop. Wait for few hours. Try after that with the changed password. Interesting on AHIP this year... stating that ALL calls to beneficiaries must be recorded, and stored (HIPAA) securely for 10 years. However from the agents and agencies I speak with on a daily, most aren't downloading calls to secure storage, expiring 6 months later. Or "feel" that the carriers and CMS won't inspect them as they are not a call center. Do you feel that carriers and CMS will begin to step up and penalize agents for not following rules, laws, and regulations? If you have interest in recording your calls compliantly reach out! It's surprising after 20 years of call recording how few are accepting of this required change. If your agency isn't offering a platform or you don't have ownership of your data, reach out, there are many call recording platforms, and just a handful able to handle (at a cost effective price) CMS / HIPPA requirements.

The IRS never calls or sends emails! Beware of the scams! So recently, one of my clients received a notice asking for money. They filed an LLC and received a notice that looked very official asking them for money. On checking the address, it didn't even exist. ?? You must be wondering, the IRS doesn't call or email is alright, but how do we identify a notice that looks oh-so-official? If you're preparing to file T5 Information Returns for clients, you might want to double-check one key detail: the RZ program account number. Recently, clients have reported that CRA is rejecting T5 returns if this number is missing in the T5 Summary. This is due to new real-time validation checks CRA has implemented for electronically filed information returns. In the past, you could submit the return via CRA's Internet File Transfer and receive follow-up contact if any information was missing. However, with the new system, the file will be rejected on submission if it doesn't pass the required validations meaning no acceptance until all information is complete. ?
