Are you wondering what some of our AI researchers are working on? Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming over 30 machine learning specialists at the Tübingen AI Center, where we hosted a Hackathon centered on the SBI Toolbox. ? The SBI (Simulation-Based Inference) toolbox was initially developed by the team of our core-faculty member Jakob Macke in 2020 and has since become a community project maintained by several labs worldwide. ?? 6G Flagship congratulates Associate Professor Simo Hosio, who has been awarded by the Research Council of Finland for his impactful work in computer science, particularly in harnessing crowd intelligence to address societal challenges. Hosio's research, which has gained international media attention, focuses on using crowd computing and crowdsourcing technologies to tackle health-related issues such as mental health, back pain, sleep quality, and Parkinson’s disease. Hosio's innovative approach emphasizes the importance of crowdsourcing in feeding AI with reliable data, offering tangible assistance to those suffering from various health problems. Fundamentally, Responsible AI is about successful enablement, and I look forward to seeing what we can all do together. Some highlights from the conference (among many): Jeff Kubina discussing trust and provenance for AI intelligence applications, Sharon Zhou, PhD and Lamini's approach to accuracy and precision - truly impressive examples and use cases (and a bit funny- MoMe's got you, lol), David R. Holmes, III, Ph.D. discussing humans in loops for healthcare applications and showing some great AI gen images that truly made us all chuckle, as well as the Human interaction and decision making panel which included great work from Stella Biderman. On a whole, great examples across the board demonstrating the intersection and applications of knowledge graph with LLM models, as well as so many others around compute, performance, hardware, and energy efficiency.
