?#RecognizePalestineNow: A Call for Lasting Peace in the Middle East We all yearn for a world shaped by #peace, #respect, and #dignity—a world where the echoes of air raid sirens and cries of pain or hunger no longer pierce the tranquility of spring mornings. It's a world where you can tenderly tuck your children into bed at night, secure in the knowledge that you'll be there for them tomorrow. Join Corridors of Peace in This Campaign: To end the anguish in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, everyone deserves a place to call home and an equal opportunity to raise their voice. Yet, Palestinians are still denied recognition as a people, robbing them of a say in discussions on ending present violence or reconstructing their futures. More than half the globe acknowledges the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. However, within Europe—where unity could foster profound change—only a fraction of countries have extended this recognition. Yet, signs of progress emerge: Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Malta stand poised to acknowledge Palestine as the crucial path to peace. We must seize this moment and advocate for enduring peace. International pressure mounts on Israel to uphold international law and embrace a ceasefire. As citizens, we must amplify this call, urging our governments to align with the will of their constituents and recognize Palestine. In such pivotal moments, collective action can rewrite history's course. It's incumbent upon all of us to unite, nudging the last dominoes over in Europe and becoming champions of peace. #RecognizePalestine #EndTheViolence #PeaceInTheMiddleEast Sign the Petition to Recognize Palestine A troubling memo surfaced from one of the world's leading newspapers, The New York Times, instructing journalists to avoid terms like "Palestine." This erasure extends beyond media—it marginalizes Palestinians in international peace dialogues and strips them of their homeland. For over five decades, Palestinians have endured life in the "occupied territories," deprived of international acknowledgment as rightful inhabitants of their land. This invisibility leaves them susceptible to exploitation by extremist factions. Recognition affords Palestinians a voice and a pathway to a future unbound by occupation. We stand in solidarity with a global movement united in support of Palestinian aspirations. Even within Israel, organizations like Zazim advocate for a two-state solution, recognizing it as the only path to security for both Palestinians and Israelis. #FreePalestine #TwoStateSolution #EndOccupation Sign the Petition to Recognize Palestine #Demand: Recognize Palestine Now Palestinians are denied recognition as a distinct people, silencing their voices in shaping their destiny and ending current violence. let's seize this moment and consign the horrors of war to history. #Europe: Be a Force for Lasting Peace! I believe the world today is more at war than never. The prevailing wars and the recurrent civil wars and conflicts happening in the world make it impossible to be sure of global peace. The world stands tipping to war than to peace. Is the current form of the UN capable of dealing with ongoing conflicts or others to happen. The quietness and mere rhetoric that is ongoing shows that the UN is incapable. Even wars in very small nations continue to kill and displace millions of people, violation of human rights happening like the world cares not. Women are raped, their rights to sexual reproductive health compromised by these wars, girls are equally driven into sexual activities early, education for all the boys and girls is compromised in the watch of the UN. Where the UN has been involved it seems it has only helped to perpetuate the conflict making such remain ongoing with no site to end. The Democratic Republic of Congo is such an example. The very security council composed of countries which are looked up to lead world peace are now funding and perpetuating conflicts. Hence there is serious need to reform the UN security council and the funding of the UN so that no one country holds the entire veto power over other nations whether small or big. As everything happens, I ask myself, Is the UN capable of addressing these conflicts? ?I am reminding myself about the whole UN principles and charter. Is the world leaning into these principles and is the charter in its current form able to maintain peace and deal with various conflicts in the world? There is serious need for human introspection within the UN, are those holding offices currently, capable or they aren’t? The UN need to be run by capable individuals who can drive change and lead the world to peace than to war. The time of war is long past us, now is the time for peace and global integration that empowers every gender equally across all borders and religions. ?I thus invite us to have a look at the charter and see what has to be done to improve it if indeed we need peace in the world, peace not today but sustainable peace for generations to come. These principles are enshrined in the United Nations Charter, which was signed on June 26, 1945, and came into force on October 24, 1945. ? The Preamble of the UN Charter sets out the organization's purposes and principles, including: ? - Maintaining international peace and security - Developing friendly relations among nations - Achieving international cooperation in solving international problems - Promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms - Encouraging social progress and better living standards ? The UN Charter serves as a foundation for international relations and global governance, guiding the actions of Member States and the organization itself.

Dr. Kristen Ali Eglinton, co-founder and Executive Director of Footage Foundation, is set to join global leaders at the third Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policies in Mexico City. The conference aims to explore feminist foreign policy as a pathway to social justice, addressing critical issues like climate change, sexual and reproductive health, and migration. 'For over 15 years and through our 10 U.S. State Department Public Diplomacy programs, we have learned that traditional frameworks of diplomacy and policy-making often fall short in addressing the nuanced challenges faced by women and girls in all their diversity, as well as LGBTQIA+ and marginalized communities, particularly in crisis settings,' says Dr. Eglinton. Footage Foundation's recent report, 'Compassion, Connection and Forced Displacement,' highlights the importance of compassion-based interventions for refugee women. It calls for approaches that recognize the power of compassion and connection in providing services to refugees and migrants. 'Connection and compassion are not simply 'add-ons' to programming or interventions with women and girls, but central to advancing their lives and survival, as well as to realizing many targets within the SDGs and aligning with the principles of feminist foreign policy and women, peace and security agendas,' Dr. Eglinton emphasizes. #feminism #refugeecrisis #compassion #migration #footagefoundation @footageproject

As a feminist working towards social justice, #genderequality, freedom and rights for women, for girls, for all people, I have been marching for #Palestine since the 90s. This is because #feminist liberation cannot be disentangled from the fight for racial and social justice, equality and self-determination. #Patriarchy and colonialism are intertwined. Feminist movements are, and should be engaged in dismantling patriarchy and all systems of oppression. I stand in solidarity with Palestinians in #Gaza and everywhere, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and until freedom and justice prevails. Palestine will be free. New Zealand’s former Prime Minister Helen Clark recently issued a strong caution to Western nations, particularly regarding their support for Israel in the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. Clark's stance is rooted in her concern for escalating regional instability and the significant humanitarian toll of the conflict. Emphasizing the dangers of additional armament support, she called for Western countries to prioritize peace-oriented interventions, including advocating for a ceasefire and equitable humanitarian access to Gaza. Clark’s perspective aligns with her history of advocating human rights and diplomatic solutions over military support. New Zealand has historically taken independent stances on Middle Eastern issues, balancing its limited economic engagement with Israel with a nuanced diplomatic approach. Notably, New Zealand's past support for UN Resolution 2234, which condemned Israeli settlements, led to strained relations with Israel, a stance that continues to impact diplomatic relations today. Clark’s comments underscore her commitment to a consistent humanitarian approach, urging Western nations to reconsider actions that might fuel further conflict rather than foster peace. For New Zealand, Clark’s statements reinforce a call for cautious engagement in the region, seeking solutions that reduce the humanitarian crisis while discouraging militaristic escalation https://lnkd.in/d69THz2n
