We are proud to announce that the PV-bos GROW project has been awarded a grant under the Korea Spain Strategic Programme (KSSP) 2024 ??, an R&D initiative co-funded by the CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) ?? The project, led by a Korean-Spanish consortium, aims to develop a modular and easy-to-install system that drastically reduces the cost of floating solar technology: PV-bos ?? ?? . ? By integrating new industrialised manufacturing and deployment methods with an innovative modular design, based on BlueNewables' patented PV-bos technology, the project seeks to deliver a cost-competitive, commercial-scale solution. This will pave the way for a global market for solar energy and contribute to the decarbonisation of energy-isolated and land-scarce areas worldwide. ?? Proud to have recently joined the tunES project, which aims at optimizing Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) regulation and integrate it with the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) roll-out in 7 national Energy Agencies, representing 132 million citizens and develop guidance for other EU Member States. ?? Last week I joined my colleague Rune Korsholm Andersen at my first consortium meeting in Rome, getting some very interesting hints about the future workplan to optimize building energy consumption and regulation. ?? On 25 September 2024, the exciting session on the Functional Mock-Up Interface (FMI) protocol will take place at the joint stand of the Capital Region, Hall A1, 255. ?? ? ?? The presentation will evaluate the integration of the Functional #Mock-Up Interface (FMI) protocol into the TG 4 - Requirements for modelling and validation of simulation models of the electrical characteristics of power generating units and systems by #FGW e.V. The FMI protocol, used for importing and exporting dynamic models, aims to streamline the verification process of converter-based #PGUs and #PGSs. Ltd. and Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co. Ltd. is developing the R&D project "Optimization of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Plant Heliostats against Wind Induced Pulsations and Vibrations (HELIOPTIM)". ?? The main objective of the project is to characterize the wind loading and wind-induced response on the heliostat structure in order to optimize its design. Some relevant activities are, the different wind tunnel tests; development of spectral models; determination of spatial coherence functions; determination of design parameters for wind resistance, etc. ? From EAG, the Technology Development Area (headed by Juan Bueno Gayo, José Fernando Gallego Belizón, Cristian Garcia, Felix Alonso, and Roque L. Last week, the Sulphurreal 15-month project review meeting was held, bringing representatives from all project partners and the Programme Officer to the virtual table. The funding programme EIC Pathfinder was represented by Nikolaos Stergiannis by four experts in the fields of chemistry, physics, process engineering and innovation commercialisation potential. The SULPHURREAL project presents a groundbreaking method for storing renewable energy over a long period of time: It utilizes concentrated solar thermal energy to convert sulphuric acid into sulphur. The energy stored in the sulphur can be released on demand as heat, with sulphur thus serving as a fuel to power gas turbines and generate electricity. The process can operate in a closed cycle, regenerating the sulphuric acid by recirculating sulphur-containing combustion gases like sulphur dioxide without releasing them into the atmosphere. In this milestone meeting representatives from the project participants reported on the progress made during the first 12 months of the project and gave an outlook to the next steps. The morning session was dedicated to technical updates, showcasing the significant strides we’ve made in advancing the innovative steps of the Sulphurreal cycle. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to project management themes like dissemination & communication and data management within the project. Another presentation highlighted the project’s technical innovations and their transfer potential to industrial applications.
