Food for thought as a nation that has vets in turmoil about validating service. Serving in the military is a profound commitment—a commitment to something greater than oneself. Whether you’ve deployed overseas or served on home soil, in combat or in support roles, your contribution is invaluable. Too often, the question arises: “Did you see combat?” But military service is not defined solely by the frontlines. Every role, every position, every duty station is a critical part of the whole. Full transparency, I have deployed 7 times, 1 in afghansitan. You don’t need to justify your service to anyone. The sacrifices, the discipline, the dedication—it all matters. Whether you were in the thick of battle or ensuring operations ran smoothly from behind the scenes, your service stands as a testament to your courage and dedication to our country. So, to all who have worn the uniform: Thank you. Your service, in whatever capacity, has made a difference. You are a vital part of our military’s strength and resilience. Never forget that your contribution is honored and respected, no matter where or how you served. When we take the nation’s cloth off for the last time, our service will just be a chapter in our lives. Dont get caught up in the validation. In the end what matters the most is those by our side, praying, holding our hands as we take our last breath.

This is me - but not simply because it’s an age thing. Watching Army aviation parade over a battlespace is a pretty awe inspiring event. See two Apaches flying by? That’s cool. Same with Blackhawks and Chinooks. See an angry Apache helicopter? That’s an entirely different story. I’ve been on the ground when angry Apaches were doing what they do best. It’s awesome when you’re on the friendly side. I’m sure it’s not fun when you’re on the opposing side. But then again - it’s not designed to be. Nowadays, any time there is a helicopter in the area, it’s my natural inclination to find it. Call it my own Pavlovian response. Or - another medical term if you desire. Helicopters are also ingrained in me and helped to inspire Aerial Resupply Coffee? when I used to help plan and pack sling load operations. Of course, Aerial DELIVERY is an Air Force function - but as always, the Army will figure out how to do almost anything on their own. Sling load operations are just another method of distribution of required supplies. #logisticswinswars. Stay caffeinated out there. Veterans Day celebrates all United States military veterans. However, Memorial Day is set aside for remembering the men and women who died while serving. Additionally, Armed Forces Day recognizes the men and women currently serving in the United States military.?So, why do we celebrate on November 11th? The answer takes us back to the end of World War I when an armistice between Germany and the Allied nations came into effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.?A year later, in 1919, the United States commemorated this moment as Armistice Day for the first time, filled with solemn pride and gratitude for victory.?It wasn’t until 1954, after the massive mobilization of servicemen in World War II and the Korean War, that the day was renamed Veterans Day to honor all American veterans, wherever and whenever they served. Why does it often take movies like #Shershaah, #Amaran, or #LOC: Kargil to remind us of the sacrifices made by our defence personnel? Growing up as an #Army brat, I've seen the impact of this lifestyle firsthand. I remember the countless moves my family made, always together yet often feeling apart from my father. Sundays were precious as they were the only time we could spend together. Most days, we were fast asleep when he left for work, and by the time he returned, we were usually too tired to share our day. My mother was our anchor during those times, juggling everything and keeping our spirits high while my father served his duty. This is the kind of sacrifice that defence personnel and their families endure—limited family, constant relocations, and emotional ups and downs that often go unnoticed! When we finally settled into civilian life, I often heard people say how “easy” life is for defence personnel. They would point to their benefits and pensions as if they could ever truly compensate for the sacrifices. But should they not have these? They serve our #Nation every day, rain or shine, always prepared to protect us, often at significant personal sacrifice. So why does it seem like it takes a movie to remind people of these sacrifices? Why do we forget the commitment of our armed forces until another film or series comes along to rekindle our awareness? I am probably not the only one thinking about it!
