Each year, RFL Academy participants transform their leadership learning into action through Civic Impact Projects. These initiatives partner with local nonprofits to address critical challenges, creating meaningful solutions that benefit the broader community. This year, five impactful projects were selected, each designed to drive positive change and strengthen our region. We're spotlighting the Colorado River Valley Chamber. The Colorado River Valley Chamber serves as a vital resource for businesses in the region. The Chamber serves Silt, Rifle, Battlement Mesa, and Parachute and engages local businesses to better understand their needs and deliver resources that drive growth and community engagement. Their mission is to advance the regional economy through leadership in collaboration with decision-makers for business advocacy and by strategically facilitating businesses ability to adapt to changes in economic drivers. We can talk all we want about the need for racial equity, but it means little if our actions don’t align with our words. Black and racially minoritised leaders not only face the challenges affecting the social sector as a whole, such as understaffing, underfunding, and resource shortages, but they also contend with systemic racial inequalities that make it even more difficult to serve their communities effectively. Despite these obstacles, Black and racially minoritised leaders are making significant strides in the social sector, uplifting the individuals who rely on their organisations. We are committed to supporting a diverse and equitable social sector, which is why we are offering a bursary to join our upcoming Experienced Leader programme for an individual who is Black or racially minoritised and from an organisation with an annual income of less than ￡1 million. “If we leave one girl behind, that’s one too many,” says Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta CEO, J'Aimeka "Jai" Ferrell. We’ve been awarded a transformative grant from the The Atlanta Women's Foundation to expand access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) for girls from under-resourced communities. This grant will empower more girls to develop critical skills in leadership, STEM, entrepreneurship, and life skills through the GSLE, a proven framework that builds courage, confidence, and character. ??
