Back from an adventurous solo trip that not just only gave me memories to cherish for life, but guess what I found a new buddy, a new interest that was long lost - Philosophy books Throughout the journey where I had no one around (solo travel can be lonely sometimes ??) I would hop on my earpiece and either listen to music or an audiobook! For some reason out of nowhere Audible decided to randomly suggest me this great philosophy book (Yea, getting to know the perks of data tracking) - On the Genealogy of Morals by Friedrich Nietzsche. I had heard a lot about his takes on various paradoxes but never got hands on any of his books. The book is for 8 odd hours but trust me you’ll feel like it’s 40 hrs because you’d just want to listen to it over and over again! The book can potentially untangle the wires of your brain, it will literally make you realise that the World and people are much more complex than we think! It will detach your thoughts from your emotional self and make you think more logically and scientifically from a community perspective. The core idea of this book is to make you understand that we are ruled by our emotions and not logic, one such excerpt: We all know about the trolley problem where there is a train carriage on a track with 5 people and you have the option to divert it to a deserted track where a man is sitting innocently unaware that a train is crossing since he’s assumed the track to be closed. What would you do? Kill 5 people or 1? My answer like most would be to kill one against five. Now, Friedrich brings in a very interesting perspective: he narrates the same story again in a different bottle & different set of emotions: He says, imagine there’s a doctor who has 6 patients 1 healthy about to be discharged and other seriously ill, doctor has the option to let all 5 die & healthy one survives anyway or he has the option to kill the healthy one and use his organs to save the other 5. One of my goals this year, as I turned 51, has been to read 51 fiction novels as I embark on the journey of writing my first fiction novel. (Yes, there's a twist on Legacy – stay tuned!) I often get asked what I'm reading, so I thought I’d share my reading list with you each month. May was one of the best reading months I’ve had in years! I knocked out 5 amazing novels by 5 incredible authors. And I highly recommend each one of these books! Here’s what I read in May (in order): 1.
