Face-to-face meetings benefit businesses across every industry, driving increased revenue, facilitating knowledge-sharing and strengthening relationships. Research shows that 85% of business leaders believe their organization realizes tangible business value from trips to meet with clients, customers or prospects in person. Meetings and events are also instrumental contributors to the U.S. economy, generating nearly $120 billion in travel spending and directly supporting 600,000 American jobs. A return to 2019 levels would yield an additional $32 billion in U.S. travel spending. The majority of 2024 will be in-person. This is one of our top take aways from the recent Amex GBT 2024 Global Meetings and Events Forecast. Meeting professionals have been clear, and corporate actions have demonstrated, that people want to meet in person. As expected, this AMEX survey shows that the number of in-person events continues to grow. Respondents globally said that more than three-quarters of their meetings and events in 2024 will be either entirely in-person (59%) or hybrid (20%), with the remaining 21% virtual.
