In our latest edition of Faces of #PharmSci, Clinical Pharmacist and MSc student Cheyenne Matinnia, PharmD, ACPR's research focuses on the role of conflict in pharmacy education. While conflict training is well-established in other healthcare fields, it remains largely unexplored for pharmacy students. We have presented at the 82nd FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences the results of a survey on behaviour change support education for chronic disease among European undergraduate healthcare students. Our findings suggest disparities in education across Europe. By addressing educational disparities and equipping students with the necessary skills, we can better support self- management behaviours in people with chronic disease, contributing to improved health outcomes and well-being. The changes to the specialist pathway assessment process So, guess what? The Medical Board of Australia had their annual meeting at the end of April, and they dropped some exciting news! They're rolling out a new process to speed up the registration of specialist international medical graduates. Remember all the buzz about the Kruk Review shaking things up for overseas-trained medical practitioners? Well, we've seen a few tweaks over the last six months, but this announcement from the Medical Board is really getting people talking. Basically, the Kruk Review suggested creating a fast-track pathway for specialists trained in similar countries. And now, the Medical Board is making it happen. They're giving priority to anaesthetists, obs & gyn specialists, psychiatrists, and GPs through a new system that'll run alongside the existing specialist medical college assessments. But here's the deal: While these international graduates will get their specialist registration upfront, there will be some initial conditions to ensure patients are safe as they transition into the Australian system. They're aiming to roll out this new system by 2024. Now, there's some chatter going on with the medical colleges, like RANZCP, ANZCA, RANZCOG, RACGP, and ACCRM. It'll be interesting to see how the medical colleges react to this news. What do you think about it all?
