The field has grown, researchers have published many articles since the ones in this issue and it shows how they have continued to bring quantitative and qualitative research into focus on such a unique population in Canada. The #DepartmentofDefense is on a mission to get the right people into the right #military hospital or clinic at the right time, both medical staff and patients. On Dec. 6, 2023, the Deputy Secretary of Defense signed a memo directing the stabilization of the Military Health System. The memo requires that the MHS add capacity to reattract patients and beneficiaries, improve access to care in military hospitals and clinics, and increase opportunities to sustain military clinical readiness for #medicalforces. There is a clear need to stabilize the MHS. The realignment of medical personnel, coupled with a volatile #healthcare economy in the past three years, created challenges to care for beneficiaries and affected the ability to efficiently generate and sustain medically ready and ready #medical forces.
