Flu season reminders We’re well into autumn now, and as it looks like the flu season will be upon us early this year, it’s a good time for a few reminders about visiting. Older people are more susceptible to many diseases, including the flu and COVID19, and have the highest rate of fatalities from these and many other easily-spread diseases. To protect our vulnerable residents, we ask that you keep these reminders in mind when visiting Finley Regional Care: ·?????Don’t let basic hygiene slip – wash and sanitise your hands before entering, and whenever needed once you are here. ·?????Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing (even if you’re not unwell) and dispose of used tissues straight away. ·?????Don’t visit if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms – or consider a zoom visit or phone call instead. Together we can give our residents the best possible chance of staying well, healthy and safe during the colder months this year. #fluseason #getready #staysafe #agedcare

I Got the Walking Pneumonia (and the Boogie Woogie Flu) We’re approaching the cold and?flu?season, which may include the latest Covid 19 virus. But doctors say there is another culprit in the mix that is more prevalent this year: Walking pneumonia. ? Mycoplasma pneumoniae is an infection which can lead to walking pneumonia. This can be problematic as the patient may feel well enough to go to work or school but still spread the disease. Once the person is infected, the accompanying cough may take 2 weeks to get past, not to mention it could infect other people. ? Like most other cold-like germs, there’s no secret cure. As you could guess, we should be washing our hands, getting enough sleep and exercise, and eating well. In addition, those with co-morbidities need to be extra careful. So, let’s stay active, take care of ourselves, and be diligent about not spreading germs to others. #walkingpneumonia #covid19 #flu https://lnkd.in/e59NJttR
