Taking a moment to recognize the true meaning behind Memorial Day. It's more than just a holiday; it's a solemn tribute to honor U.S. military personnel who lost their lives serving our nation. Today, we remember the freedom brought by their courage, and it's our duty to honor their memory by upholding the values they fought for. Have you ever wondered what core values the DoD and each Service live by? Here they are: DoD: Duty, Integrity, ethics, honor, courage, and loyalty. Army: Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. Marine Corps: Honor, courage, and commitment. Navy: Honor, courage, and commitment. Air Force: Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. Coast Guard: Honor, respect, and devotion to duty. Many people know what these words mean, but how often do we see someone actually live up to them? A question worth asking ourselves, and a great day to begin living by these values as a way to honor our history and freedom. Leave a lasting legacy to a family member or loved one that served in a branch of the United States Armed Forces with the Town of Jupiter’s Veterans Memorial Legacy Brick program. ?? The Town of Jupiter Veterans Memorial was opened in 2020 and is dedicated to remembering and honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, as well as those Gold Star families who have had a loved one make the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. How the Legacy Brick Program will work: ?? Each brick will have two options: 1. A message with no branch insignia: these bricks will include four (4) lines of text, with a maximum of 21 characters per line. 2. A message containing a branch insignia: these bricks will include an insignia of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard as well as four (4) lines of text with 15 characters per line. ? All bricks will be a red charcoal color to match the current bricks found at the Veterans Memorial. ? Each brick will cost $100, which will include the production of the brick as well as its installation. ? Space is limited and bricks will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. If the space sells out, the Town will explore additional areas after the completion of the construction of the new Town Hall building. ?? No political statements will be allowed as a part of this memorial program. The Town of Jupiter reserves the right to refuse any message or the placement of a brick. ?? The mission of the American Legion is to enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.[3] The key pillars of the American Legion's mission are: 1. Veterans: Providing services and support to veterans such as VA benefits claims counseling, advocacy for the VA healthcare system, education benefits, career services, and support for homeless veterans. 2. Partners in PROMISE would like to recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day on May 1st. Silver Star Service Banner Day is for Americans to recognize and remember service members who have been wounded in combat, are sick, and who are dying. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the Silver Star Medal is the third-highest medal a member of the Armed Forces can receive for gallant action during combat. The U.S. Army normally awards the distinguished medal as the "Silver Star," while the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard award the medal as the "Silver Star Medal." All branches of the military give the award as a result of action against an enemy of the U.S. during the conflict over a short period, normally one or two days. How can you recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day: 1. Attend a local veteran organization or military base event honoring Silver Star personnel and families. 2. Display your Silver Star Service Banner outside your home or business. 3. Volunteer to help at a local event honoring Silver Star recipients. 4. Today, we honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting our freedoms and way of life are deeply appreciated. My Daddy served honorably and nobly in the Marine Corps, and is my favorite and special veteran of all times. There are approximately, 1.3 million active-duty service members and 767,238 national guard/reservist. Veterans make up 5.6% of the civilian workforce with fewer veterans in the labor force now than 20 years ago. Greater than 200,000 U.S. military service members transition to the civilian workforce annually. Each branch of the military—the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, and Nation Guard—focuses on specific domains, from land and sea to air and space operations. Despite the varying responsibilities of these branches, the experiences veterans share—whether they served in combat, logistics, or technical roles—equip them with skills that can be applied across multiple sectors. As we work to build a more inclusive workplace, it’s important to be intentional in understanding the contributions of veterans, with the goal of creating an environment where they feel engaged and can do their best work. #uhc #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans #HonorAndRespect

We get to sleep like a baby with little worry about our country being attacked. This little-appreciated fact is because of the sacrifices of military veterans.? A quote from the Department Of Defense website: "Veterans Day honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace — dead or alive — although it’s largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices." ? To understand the rank of Fleet Admiral, one needs to consider the context of World War II. The United States was working alongside Allies who had higher ranks like Field Marshals and Fleet Admirals, which were superior to American ranks. To ensure American senior officers were not outranked, the United States established the ranks of Fleet Admiral and General of the Army, both five-star ranks. In total, nine men held these ranks. For the Navy, they were Nimitz, Halsey, King, and Leahy. In the Army, the five-star generals were Arnold, Eisenhower, Marshall, MacArthur, and Bradley.
