In a recent podcast, we spoke with Commander Chester Long and Detective Damus Vice from the City of Waco, TX Police Department about the challenges their department faces when organizing Faith & Blue events. Commander Long shared insightful reflections on this topic. "Initially, we faced challenges with faith partners not fully advertising their events. We would show up to events with only a few attendees because the word wasn't spread effectively," he explained. "We realized the importance of giving them lead-up time and encouraging them to announce these events during services and through other channels. Over time, we've seen a significant increase in involvement and participation. More churches are now coming forward, and the number of events has grown tremendously." ?? Detective Vice added, "The first year, we had twelve events with less than a month to prepare. By the second year, there were 29 events, and this year, we're expecting between 30 to 40 events. The community's desire to build relationships with the police department is evident, and it has been a rewarding challenge to manage so many events."
