Way to go to?Justin Perri?for investing in helping teens become more financially intelligent and teaching the importance of financial literacy!
The importance of financial literacy cannot be overstated, which is why we are very grateful for the financial literacy workshops Justin Perri of our community partner Home Trust Bank conducts for the teens in our Pathway Program. Using fun and engaging real world examples, he is helping our teens become money smart, which is essential to helping more children escape the cycle of poverty as they become adults. There is power in bringing financial literacy directly into the community?????? In far too many neighborhoods, access to affordable banking, credit, savings, and investment opportunities is often limited. This creates a cycle of financial insecurity that is difficult to break. By establishing place-based financial centers, we can provide the guidance and resources these communities need. Through one-on-one counseling, workshops, and connections to local resources, we can help residents: ? Understand budgeting, debt management, and responsible credit use ? Access safe banking options and build savings ? Learn about investment vehicles and plan for retirement ? Navigate complex financial systems and avoid predatory lenders The impact of this work extends far beyond the individual. When families achieve financial stability, it strengthens the entire community. Children grow up seeing the benefits of financial literacy, and neighbors support one another on the path to prosperity. Financial empowerment is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It requires an understanding of local needs and cultures. But when implemented thoughtfully, it has the power to uplift communities, create generational change, and build a more equitable society. The L.I.F.E. Group will continue to champion financial literacy as a vital component of our community development and outreach programs. ?? Lifelong learning accrues most when started early:)
We are thrilled to be featured in the American Bankers Association's recent video, showcasing meaningful ways bankers can support their communities with their financial education campaigns. The Lights, Camera, Save! program took center stage with our national winner, Brodie Bosworth, Community Relations Coordinator, Delainey Mcilwain, and Regional President, Laura Tussing. This program allows for students to create a video highlighting the impact of financial education. Watch the video to see how we're making a difference together! #CommunitySupport #FinancialEducation #LightsCameraSave

This past weekend I closed out our last Financial Workshop of 2024 in the Lakeview Neighborhood in West Charlotte, NC. In today's world, financial literacy is more than just a skill—it's a vital tool for empowerment, especially within low-income communities. Engaging these communities through place-based work can transform lives and create lasting change. Our strategic partnership with L. Jamaal Kinard and The Lakeview Neighborhood Alliance (LNA) has allowed us to engage people in the Lakeview community, and build trust, leading to powerful results. ?? Why Financial Literacy Matters: Understanding the basics of budgeting, saving, and investing can open and break down doors that have been closed to a large segment of our population. When we equip individuals with the knowledge to build wealth, we're not just helping them; we're uplifting entire communities. Here’s how teaching financial literacy can benefit our society as a whole: 1?? Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Financial education offers practical skills that help individuals make informed decisions, leading to better financial outcomes. 2?? Strengthening Local Economies: When community members are financially literate, they can contribute to local businesses, fostering economic growth and resilience. 3?? Promoting Equity: Providing access to financial education helps level the playing field, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to build wealth, regardless of their background. 4?? Encouraging Community Engagement: Place-based initiatives create a sense of belonging and responsibility, encouraging residents to collaborate and support each other in their financial journeys. By investing in financial literacy programs tailored to the needs of low-income communities, we’re not just teaching skills; we’re nurturing a culture of empowerment that has the potential to reshape our society. Let’s commit to engaging our communities and sharing the knowledge that can change lives. Special Thanks to our Community Engagement Specialist, Shakeema Grier, for all the amazing work she has done with the Lakeview community this year! Today, the Webb County Commissioners Court officially declared April as Financial Literacy Awareness Month. This month serves as a reminder of the pressing need to prioritize financial education, particularly as nearly half of Americans struggle with financial literacy, with the number increasing within the Hispanic community. Let's come together to spread awareness and educate others to create financial well-being for everyone. Financial stress can lead to mental health issues, much of which could be avoided. Shockingly, 50% of Americans have never seen a financial adviser, and another 25% haven't seen one in over a year. Our Laredo Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial office is committed to giving back and promoting initiatives that help spread financial education to the community. We're thrilled to facilitate a seminar on any topic. Let's make financial literacy a priority this April and beyond. We extend our gratitude to Commissioner Ricky Jaime for sponsoring the item and Raul Reyes, MPA, CT, CIO for supporting financial literacy. Let's all work together towards a financially literate community. #FinancialLiteracyAwarenessMonth #FinancialEducation #FinancialWellBeing #FinancialStress #MentalHealthAwareness #FinancialAdviser #FinancialProfessionals #FinancialLiteracy #Community #SpreadAwareness #Education #WebbCounty #HispanicCommunity
