This week is DSP Rocognition Week and last night CLA, along with 25 other organizations celebrated over 200 DSPs in our 2nd Annual DSPY Awards. Many thanks to our incredible MC Melissa Heifetz from The Arc of Northern Virginia and our inspiring Keynote Speakers, Nancy Mercer and Mikelle Jarosz. They perfectly captured the role of the DSP which includes the expected such as: counselor, health care provider, friend and the not so expected like: plumber, financial advisor, and wheelchair mechanic. Of course what hit home most to me was Nancy’s reminder that parents and loved ones put their trust in DSPs to care for their loved one like one of their own….and our DSPs do just that day in and day out. Thank you to our amazing, compassionate, and skilled DSPs. And thank you to everyone who made last night perfect!
