If a picture is worth a thousand words, then certainly a geologic map is worth a million words (or in this case, $$$). The first-ever U.S. geological mapping cost-benefit study was just released. And surprise, surprise, it found that a geological mapping project's economic benefits far outweigh its costs, resulting in large returns on investment and significant societal benefits.
